I have very fair sensitive skin and I would break out and the hair would itch like crazy when it started to grow back. If I go au naturel I have a huge, untamed bush so this is what I do. I have a pair of very good quality hair trimming scissors and I trim the hair as close as I possibly can. I don't break out and no one has complained. Where is it written that the hair that God gave us is unattractive or unsanitary? The way I see it is the only reason to exfoliate is so that a partner can find the right anatomy and doesn't get a mouth full of hair. |

| Swingers Board Addict | I have had similar reactions if I shave and then shortly after get into a pool ot hot tub full of chlorine or the ocean. The same that I would if I had just shaved my legs. It could also possibly be you laundry detergent, especially if you have switched recently. Or possibly something that was in your bath water such as shampoo or bubble bath. Also...lol...I am no expert but if the razor that I am using seems to get a little dull I find that I get really irritated. Try using an aloe gel such as for sunburn for some relief.

| Swingers Board Addict | I wish I could give you some advice but I can't. I do know that when ever I shaved "down there" I would get major razor burn and the itch that came as soon as the hair starts to go back would drive me round the bend. Simply put, I stopped shaving down there but on the most special of occasions or every six months or so whichever comes first. Other than that I just use my husband's hair scissors and keep it neat and trim. I am considering enduring the pain of a bikini wax for this summer but we'll see. Just like Roxy suggests try some aloe. Might ease the pain. Tigress xx

| Swingers Board Addict Join Date: Feb 2003 Posts: 112 Location: Northern VA Status: Male half | I'll stick my neck out a bit here...my wife and I both shave. At first we had bouts of irritation, but it turnd out the answer was to shave daily, even if nothing special was planned. We use just a good lather of bar soap. I've never heard of Coochy Creme. Without a look at the rash, (not to be cheeky) I can only make a few general suggestions: Calamine Lotion Neosporin Cortazone (insect bite cream) Baking soda and water paste ice cold washcloth Only a guess on my part, but if you've never had a problem for 8 months, and suddenly you're on fire, I would be suspicious that your razor or cream are contaminated. Do you use a razor or a shaver? Shavers are less risky than razors, but they don't cut as close and have to be cleaned carefully. Or maybe it's just time for a new blade ![]()

Is it possible, (as you have had no problems for 8 months) that perhaps due to heat or humidity that you have perspired excessively, by working out in the yard or what ever? I know that for myself, if I spend an abundance of time outside working in the yard and when the humidity gets high, I will suffer from some of the same symptoms that you are having. I have resolved this by using baby powder if the humidity is up to help lessen the redness and itching and I always shower after I am finished and follow up with more powder. Since I'm not a man, I don't know....but could this be akin to jock itch? Sounds weird, but if I'm not mistaken isn't jock itch for men caused by excessive heat and perspiration in the genital area which in turn causes chaffing, itchiness and redness? Lori

I personally use some for this (but will not give the brand here because I don't want to advertise for some products). I assume You can easily find some on the net if not in your immediate area or local distributor. Cheers. JC

It isn't real common but it does occasionally occur with repeated use in some people (with detergents, inhalants, foods, adhesive tapes). You indicated it suddenly started last night. If it has not started to clear up by tomorrow, or seems to be worsening, I would definitely be in touch with my physician in the AM. The risk of infection in the "area" could be rather significant. Someone else mentioned a contaminated razor - excellent point for consideration. In the meantime, to control itching, you may want to contact your pharmacist to ask for an over-the-counter recommendation for the itching. -EBF |

I believe it's the same as "athlete's foot," a fungus that finds a home between layers of skin. There are a number of effective over-the-counter treatments available at your drugstore. Your problem may have nothing to do with shaving, considering you went without problems for so long a time. Mr. Alura |

I tend to get chaffed down there if I don't shave every day. 2. The older the razor the more likely I am to get a bit irritated. 3. heat rash - in the summer when it gets warm I often get a bad heat rash/irritation underneath my breasts and in the edges of my thighs (where they meet my pelvis). So, with the warm weather this could definately be an issue. |

My thongs rub on them so i'm back in Granny Panites and all. How does one avoid them!!!!! I used to have ingrown hair when I shaved. Now I sugar. It is more or less the same as wax, only it washes off with water and feels better. Besides lots of the roots come out and there is less hair every time. The trick is to do it often (or have it done... a lot nicer...), then the hair gets soft and it also hurts less. I also find that if I exfoliate there is hardly any ingrown hair.
