Wanted to ask if you had everything (meaning all of the hair on the outside of the vaginal lips) done? The reason I ask is because my wife just got her first treatment and the place she went to said they couldn't do that area because the skin is slightly darker? It's no darker than any other vagina on a caucasian female that I've ever seen. So I guess it boils down to 4 questions.... 1: Did you have that area done? 2: If so, was it effective? 3: Was there any side effects such as permanent skin dis-coloration? 4: Lastly, if you know, what type of laser did they use? Thanks........

It's effective to a point. The big prob: laser hair removal on any part of the body is not permanent. It will grow back, maybe just slower. I'm trying to figure out if any of the new at-home things work since I figure if it's not going to be permanent, maybe I should just invest in my own laser. |

I've had one session so far and my nurse said that most people need between 3 and 5 sessions for complete and permanent hair removal. She uses the Candela Gentelase laser which she told me was about the best one out there. From my own research, it seems that it really is as far as effectiveness. With every "zap" of the laser, this machine also sprays a coolant on your skin which I think helps with the pain. I can't say it was comfortable having it done, but it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. It really does feel like someone snapping a rubber band on your skin. As far as being permanent, she has been doing this for nine years now and says that it is almost totally permanent in almost all cases unless there is a hormonal issue. That is not to say that you might not get a stray hair here or there, but the vast majority really should be gone. She told me that people should avoid "pulsed light" laser systems as they are much less effective. Of course, I can't tell you yet how effective this will be for me yet as I still have to go through with the other treatments. The difference so far, though, has been amazing. I had the first session about 4 1/2 weeks ago and there is almost no hair there at all. Even the hair that has begun to grow back is really soft and fine. I shave about once a week (which is really not even necessary at this point) and am so, so smooth and soft. I will go back to have the next session done in about 1 1/2 weeks as the sessions will all be held about 6 weeks apart. I did have her do the ENTIRE area, my whole bottom front to back She said this wasn't unusual at all. The whole thing took about 20 minutes. I did have some mild discoloration for the first 3 weeks or so but it is gone now. The skin was a bit red for a few days, then it took about 2 weeks for the stubble to fall out (I went into the session completely shaved). Before I began shaving this area I would have thought someone was crazy to spend the money to have this done. Each of my sessions costs $175, which is on the low end. As someone who literally can't stand the feel of rough stubble in that area, though, it's so worth it. So that is my experience so far. Maybe I will update this thread later if I have anything interesting to add. |
