| Here to Stay | Just had to say that I read everything I could here and elsewhere regarding getting waxed. I tend to be very hirsute and it grows in really thick and fast. I hate shaving, so, I finally decided to take the plunge and go for it. I took my 2 Tylenol and cancelled everything for the afternoon out of concern that I would not be able to walk - after reading a few posts suggesting that it would be tantamount to child birth. Well, I should say that my son was born in a military teaching hospital, my 2 epidural attempts hit a major nerve each time causing horrible pain, and they still didn't work. So, I had 3 hours of pushing with natural childbirth to deliver a nearly 9 pound baby. But....even though I started my period today (I heard this increases pain sensitiviy), it wasn't that bad at all!! Sure it stung like hell for a few seconds, but nothing major. I would still rather have a Brazilian wax for the very first time than a root canal. I imagine that much of the experience is dependent upon personal pain tolerance and the skills of the aesthetician. But I would encourage any woman thinking about it to go for it - after getting personal referrals. I look forward to touching myself - and having hubby do so, too - but will still wait until tomorrow! |

For a little more money, it will last a lot longer. Because all hair grows back, no matter what the advertisements claim, you don't have to worry about losing it forever, but it is a smaller amount of hair. |

| Here to Stay | I will have to look into the laser treatment if the hair begins to grow out too quickly. The only thing I am not pleased with right now is having to let it grow out before ripping it out again! At least I presume that is the case. Maybe I should find out more. |

Maybe others have noticed this too...but the hair tends to grow back in patches/spots. With waxing you are ripping the entire hair follicle out, so your body is making a new one from scratch basically...and that takes longer to do than with shaving obviously...but I think I read somewhere that they grow in 'cycles' so that's why the regrowth is more uneven than with shaving. But I did notice the hair grew in finer/fluffier than with shaving. As a matter of fact since I ususally only get waxed in the summer time the girl will usually say 'oh, you've been shaving haven't you?' They can tell by the texture of the hair. Anyway, congrats on your first one! They can be kind of addicting. ![]()

There are definitely cycles because the techs always say that in between the 2nd & 3rd treatment there is usually more hair than in between the 1st and 2nd, etc. But you can trim or shave it as the laser only needs to "see" the darkness on/under the skin to zap it. It's lasted close to a year for me, and as hair grows back...it's soooo much less than what was originally there! |

This is the second time I've ever had a Brazilian and the last one was about 5 years ago. I think a lot depends on who does it. The reason I had only had one was because that one was awful. I used to get bikini waxes on a regular basis and they were never bad... but the first Brazilian I had ... ![]() So, I decided I'd give it another try since we are going away next week. This time it wasn't bad at all and the places that hurt the worst were the places I least expected. While the places I thought would hurt the worst weren't bad at all (right on the outer lips, around the anus). There were some hairs that weren't long enough to get unfortunately and I had let it grow for almost a full week. So I'm sure those will grow in sooner... that's the one thing I hate about waxing is that there are always some hairs that need waxed before you are ready. I've been grabbing the tweezers and trying to get them as I can. |
