How closely do you look?

We were just contacted by this couple. We of course checked out their profile and it said," If your toe nail and finger nail are not clean, we are not the couple for you". I will admit that there are certain things we look for too, but clean toe and finger nail are something we really don't pay attention to. Clean hand yes, but nails. Some people have construction jobs or are mechanics and it is hard for those people to keep their nails clean. So my question to the rest of you is, how closely do you scan the other couple?

OH MYLANTA!! We don't look that close. Dave's employment requires he work around horses, mules, dirt and soot and the list can go on, and on.... His hands are bound to a tad bit dirty, even after washing with a nail brush.

I don't think I'd want to play with anyone that anal over clean finger and toe nails.

I DO pay attention to hands and look for clean nails that aren't strangers to an emery board. Nothin' worse than sharp nails on my skin!

I am very aware that some men work in a profession that roughens their hands and puts a lot of stuff under their nails, even can stain nails, but I can tell when a man has done his best to clean his hands and nails.

Clean men are apparent if you look at the whole picture. I like to see men who keep their neck shaved between haircuts, keep their eyebrows from looking wild and their ears plucked...yes guys, take a closer look, you may have a 1" hair growing out of your lobes!

I think we'd have to pass on a couple that picky too, Tia. My guy DOES keep himself clean, but even I couldn't get him to go for a manicure on a bet!

I shower regularly and I keep my nails trimmed. What else do they want?

I have not gone to a professional nail person (Manicurist? I don't even know what they're called!) once in my life, nor do I see myself ever going!

I am not a male model by any any stretch of the imagination. But if they're gonna be eyeballing my toe nails to make sure they're properly trimmed, well, I think we would have to pass too. For some reason, "shallow" comes to mind.

MrLM would never get a professional manicure, nor would I want him too. It just isn't him. Besides, he's perfectly capable of taking care of his own grooming needs, except for me plucking the hair on his ears that he can't see. LOL

Toenails are always about 5 feet away, and if they look good from that distance, chances are they're okay close up. But if I feel like licking a few toes I'll take a moment longer to look'em over first.

We have no intentions in playing with them either. We feel like the rest of you guys. A little too picky and shallow for us too. If the nails are long and are filled from the top of the nail bed to the botton, then maybe we could relate with them, but they did not make it seem that way.

I admit that I have an issue with hairy ears and nose hair hanging out.

I'm lucky that my hubby likes pedicures and manicures. It feels better when his hands are rubbing down below. The skin is so sensitive there.

It wouldn't prevent my playing with a man who didn't do these things, but it is a plus when they are well groomed. Ask your barber to take care of it or buy a $10 trimmer.

I don't know, I think people have a write to want good hygiene. Its clearly stated in the rules of swinging (#7, I believe) to keep the nails clean and trim. I do, and to be honest I work in allot of nasty industrial crap sometimes. I would feel embarrassed to meet someone with cruddy nails and hands. There is good stuff out there for cleaning the worst stains on the hands. I would still meet someone If it was in their profile to have clean and trimmed nails.No biggie

This reminds me of our first date . We met at the restaurant and thats when I noticed my thumb nails were less than desirable. I excused myself I'm sure, before anyone noticed. The bad part was I didn't have my pocket tool for a trim . I thought surely someone would come in that I could borrow something. First guy nothing,.... waiting.... second guy nothing...waiting.... Finally a kid came in and out of desperation I asked, Do ya happen to have a pocket knife or something to trim my nails with. He was like "sure mister, I just got my first Barlow" then he went on about how he a saved all his allowance and bought his pocket knife. The conversation was by no means dull while tending to my nails. I thanked him and headed back to the table.

I get back to the table and was asked by the male half, the age Ole question. " what took so long, hope everything came out o.k."

Spot light moment I wanted to say sorry, but instead said I was washing my hands and trimming my nails. There is allot less rehearsal if ya just tell the truth. The female was quite happy that I took the time to care. The male said he always has a pair of clippers on his key chain. Who new..

Now I do the best trimming and cleaning before meeting people, I feel it's just courtesy and I know for a fact the females appreciate it.

I think that where what was stated in the first post went a little too far maybe was on the toe nails... but then if someone has some nasty looking toenails... and it's that obvious. I don't typically look at people's feet but if I'm sitting there and they are barefoot and I notice and their feet look nasty it's a huge turn-off.

When it comes to fingernails, yes there are plenty of people who work in professions that cause them to get their hands dirty, but ya know what there's no excuse for not keeping them clean. If you wash them regularly even a mechanic can come out with clean hands at the end of the day. Dirty hands/fingernails are a HUGE turn-off for me and I do notice that when I first meet people.

It's just a little surprising that a profile would include such an qualification. People who have a laundry list of dislikes, we'll-never do this or that or phobias simply come off as whiners and complainers. You just know that they will never be happy with you.

Just seems like something odd to put in a profile...
