Our problem is that my girl shaves completely bare down there, and at one point it resulted in a small speckling of ingrown hairs on her crotch. We've tried methods of getting rid of them, but all that has happened is that they've developed into almost scab-like bumps, sore-looking and embarrassing. Now, this doesn't bother me because I'm aware of what is going on, but last night we arranged for a threesome this weekend with a girl we met at a party, and my girlfriend is worried. She doesn't want to bring it up with the girl for fear of seeming unclean, as well as being embarrassed, but she also doesn't want to appear as though she has an STD or something. So what we need is a solution to get rid of these ingrown hair bump things, and in a hurry. If we can't get that, then tips on how to mask them would be helpful. Pictures can be made available if anyone thinks they can help once they've seen exactly what I'm talking about. Thanks in advance guys! |

| Julie's Helper | Ave, thats a good question. I know it can be anything from embarrassing to frustrating. Mrs.fun isn't here with me at the moment, but may have some advice. She has many lotions, potions and remedies for such a problem in her side of the bathroom, that I just don't venture into. I know I used the search feature here and typed in shaving rash and got some pretty good links about the topic. There were so many threads I couldn't just leave one link that might help. Ladies of the board, can any one explain some of the tricks or cures ? Ave and his girlfriend need a little help.

If they aren't, my suggestion is exfoliation. If the bumps are towards her legs, I would suggest a gentle exfoliation with a cream scrub. A scrub will be gentler if the skin is damp. Good luck, ingrowns are icky. Which is why I prefer waxing. |

Like Avid said, exfoliation, or try to tweeze the trapped hair and clean area well afterwards. I do recall one time when I had no one around to tweeze an ingrown hair and someone suggested a peice of raw potato on the spot, if I recall the potoato did bring the the trapped stuff to the surface so it could be exfoliated away. For any remaining redness, Visene on a pimple will take the red away, it might work on her bump if it is still red this weekend. They also make green cover-up make up which diminishes redness. Or call you local waxing salon and see if they have a skin care person that can tend to it. |

I've never had a big problem with it, but just a few can drive a woman crazy. Unfortunately, for me anyway, the problem doesn't go away quickly. It's a healing process that requires a natural progression of steps to rid. First, she does have to remove the ingrown hairs, however she decides to accomplish that, either through exfoliation or tweezing. Once that is done, the pore has to heal and often a scar is left for a time. Even then, afterwards there is usually some sking discoloration in the area. Think of it like a pimple on your face, once it's gone, there is usually a mark left behind for a period of time. I switched to professional waxing to overcome the problem. Although I'm now shaving again. For some reason, my shaving is going more successfully after regularly waxing for a year. But who knows how long I'll be happy with shaving. I may return to waxing. Every woman has differing results with hair removal. If I was your girl I'd talk with the other girl and let her know the situation. Maybe your girl would be more comfortable excluding oral during sex with swing partners until she feels she's looking better down there. Good luck with a solution! LM

| ~~Happy Valentines Day~~ | I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned earlier as well... but shave in the direction that the hair grows. It really cuts down on ingrown hairs and ouchies down there. I've never tried waxing, and they don't offer Brazilian waxes here, anyway, but can I just say OUCH!!

Sorry, I know you did not want to hear that, but as others have said, shave in the direction of the hair. After the healing use baby oil when shaving or hair conditioner. It moistens the skin and the hair so that there are no bumps or ingrown hairs to deal with. This was told to me by other women swingers when we entered the life style. So far so good in the last year in a half. Good luck. ![]() |

| Don't poke an eye out! Join Date: Aug 2001 Posts: 1,450 Location: Pennsylvania - The Poconos Status: The C of C&A Swing Lifestyle Name:PA_Panache | I've had problems with dry skin all my life, and I use Curél "Ultra Healing" moisturizing lotion. It seems to work the best for me. As for the bumps, I've also had that problem, but in more mundane areas. You might want to head to your local Wal-Mart / CVS / Drug Store of choice and look for shaving creams developed specifically for African-Americans. For whatever reason, they tend to be prone to have "shaving bumps" and products have been made for them to help with that.

I have tried everything mentioned above. Currently I use Tummy Butter after I shower. It keeps my skin soft and I feel it helps. Plus the man likes the smell (coconut) Would your girlfriend be able to ask her doctor ? A dermatologist may have some advice. |

And we totally understand that it likely won't be gone by this weekend, so we're going to try cover-up makeup. Thankfully, she mentioned makeup designed to mask tattoos when I first got tattoo work done, so we're going to seek out some of that. Hopefully it'll do the trick. As always, any more advice is appreciated. |

| addicted lurkers :) Join Date: Apr 2003 Posts: 23 Location: around Status: couple Swing Lifestyle Name:pm us and we might tell ya ;) | I have had similar problems and exfoliating does help in the long run...but what works better if you are prone to them is using an astringent with salicylic acid in it (dermatologist suggested) after a hot/warm shower, it dries out the skin around the ingrown hair, with in 1-2 days you will be able to get the hair out easier or it will release itself ( in that case the redness went away within hours) It works great and now I use it the day after I shave and haven't had any problems with ingrowns since. Also wait at least 2 hours after exfoliating to avoid any real burning feeling. I would actually suggest not exfoliating before you do it but if you have just wait a while Hope that helps!!! If you have any questions feel free to pm me.
