Internal,External Piercing Information....

I found out the hard way today about internal and external piercing jewelry. As many of you might have read, while at Hedo my hood piercing jewelry came out and I had to get my piercing done a 2nd time. Well, I had my navel pierced at the beginning of March and today while out shopping I happened to touch my piercing and found out that the top of my ring broke off. The ring was still in my piercing so it all did not completely fall out. So I went to a local piercing place that was close to our friends that they recommended. And well I was shocked to find out that there is good and bad jewelry for your piercing. An external is what I had which has the threads on the ring itself and you just screw the ball on the top. An internal has the thread on the ball of the piercing and this is the safest type of jewelry. I realized now that the jewelry I was being sold at the location I got my piercing from was the wrong type of jewelry to use and was very cheap (which you get what you pay for).

So I wanted to make those of you aware to watch the jewelry that you purchase and if you have an external you may want to consider changing to a internal so that you have the best jewelry for your piercing.

Hope this helps any of you! I now know what I need to be looking for and wanted to forward this information on to the rest of you as I would have never known that there were 2 different types out there.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to watch out for this when I get mine done in a few weeks. Never would have known there are two different kinds. Does this same thing apply to the bars or just the rings?

I actually for my hood have a ring and have had no problems with it..My problem came when switching to a barbell after the healing process for my hood piercing,which I have a barbell for the navel and that is where my problem came in. I am not sure if the rings have a different thread because they actually close different than the barbell.
