| Swingers Board Addict | I just thought about something and had to share. When I went for my annual exam, there was a new nurse working with my gynecologist. I moved the gown to position myself and I swear she looked at my waxing gave me this...are you a porn star look. Then, she looked at my gynecologist and smiled. I could be completely imagining this but I am not sure...any thoughts?? ![]() |

But then I was like, well I can not possibly be the only person who shaves/waxes, so it's no big deal. He/She is a professional and has seen it all. Could they have had that little smile exchange, yes possible. But even if it did happen, I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure that your doctor will still give you professional service, and if not, you can always find someone else. That's hows I convinced myself it would be ok, and so far, no problems. ~SS

You need to have confidence in your docs...you don't need them smiling, smirking, etc. I think some of us guys may have similar things happen to us when we show our shaved ball sacs to the urologist when we get a check-up. If I saw any reaction that looked inquisitive, I would have to ask him, "What?" Male D

| Great Times 1 Year Exp. | You would think it was quite commonplace now to see shavings (and piercings) of all types that there wouldn't be a reaction. Maybe she was thinking how beautiful you looked, instead of "porn star". I recently told my gyn I was bi, and she couldn't leave the room fast enough. It was a very uncomfortable experience, and I was shocked at her reaction. I'm looking for a new gyn. ![]() We pay enough for professional services that we should expect non-judgemental treatment. Let them know how you feel. Good luck! Mrs. D |

| insert witty banter here | I worried about this too ... but decided what the hell. I'm SURE the nurse and Dr. thought to themselves, "oh look, she shaves/waxes." If I saw a woman at the gym with a smooth pussy, I'd think the same thing ![]() My mom was an ob/gyn nurse for years. Trust me. NOTHING shocks these people (well, maybe Mrs. D's Dr. was shocked). She saw it all. If she felt like she knew the patient well enough, she'd ask questions about their piercings. She said they were more than happy to talk to her about it. |

| Swingers Board Addict | lol...my poor doctor, the only thing he says is "I see you have a new addition" any time I show up with a new piercing. but he is a very good doctor and doesn't seem judgemental about it, just making an observation. it also allows for me to ask for his professional opinion on them (healing time, ect). ask for shaving, waxing, ect...well my ob has seen me in all various states of hair growth (or lack there of)...and neither he or the nurses have said anything. now as for funny looks on their faces, well...I don't know, I'm laying there looking up. lol Maria ![]() |

Being groomed (shaved/waxed) down below is so much more common in just the past few years, that I'm surprised that anybody is still looking at it like it's out of the ordinary, especially gyn's or their nurses. You'd think they'd be commonly seeing variations of personal grooming of all kinds! | |

| Mod Squad Member | I worried about this too when I had my hood pierced but my doctor (the good Catholic man that he is) never mentioned it or gave me any looks. Perhaps the smile you saw between them was because the nurse just got waxed and the doctor was the one that referred her to the same cosmotologist that waxes his wife. ![]()

| Canadian, eh? | I see my family doctor for my exams so she's used to the way I look. In fact, before I go in for my yearly monkey check, I always make sure I shave/trim. I would feel the need to apologize otherwise. I have already told her about our lifestyle and I've known her for as long as Mr. intuition and I have been married. She's been there through it all with us. In the case of urologists, when we were seeking information about Mr. intuition getting a vesctomy, we were thankful that the doctor was actually quite casual and easy-going when discussing it. I believe he actually referred to testes as "nuts". How refreshing. Mrs. D., I'm sorry to hear about your ob-gyn. I wonder if it occurred to her that you were bi long before you told her about it? Or if she knows just how many of her patients were also bi or - *gasp* even worse - lesbian? ![]()

And we started swinging late last fall. She had some trepidation about her visit to the OB/GYN this past week not only because it would be the first time he's seen her that way, but because they know each other outside the office: my wife was a nurse and worked with both him and his wife/receptionist for years. Because of this, she let just a little bit of hair grow back for a week or so, around the lips. The appointment went just fine, and my wife even told the receptionist/friend about her piercings beforehand, for which she received a big high-five. That's been her experience -- most of the people she's come into contact find it cool that a woman her age is letting her wild side come out to play. Incidentally, I pointed to the bit of pubic hair she'd grown for a week and asked, "Do you really think this fooled anybody?" "No", she said. And we both agreed that, next time, she'll be totally clean shaven when she goes in for her appointment, and it'll be no big deal. Have to admit I'm a little hesitant to go to my female GP with my shaved shaft & scrotum, though. Sigh.... |
