Braces on dudes

I have a dream...

And in this dream - I have a chin! And I am happy, confident, sexy and look a lot less like a turtle than I do right now...

But I wake up and the chin is gone...

Yes - I will admit that this is a feature that bothers me and I tend to obsess about. Everyone has that thing they can't change that drives them nuts and they think if only I could fix it then maybe I'd turn heads!!!

Well - for me it is a weak chin...

Mrs Spoo thinks I'm fine and is worried that maybe I'll change my face by doing something. She says she loves my mouth. But - she has always been suspiciously complimentary

But me? Nope - it is a real barrier to me feeling good about myself. But is it worth braces? We are probably talking a couple years of hardware.

Yes - I need to make this decision for me - but it is a scary one. So here is my question - would you be turned off by an adult man with braces?

I am hard on myself - and to be honest - I do think I am a pretty good looking guy, so I am really writing a lot of this with my own brand of self-deprecating humor. But this is a real weak spot for me and we are in a place where we can afford to get something done... But if I chase off our friends - maybe it isn't worth doing right now - when honestly things are going really well for us...

I don't know - what says you guys? Braces or no?

Tom Cruise wore braces for a year. He had the "invisible" ones, and one could barely see 'em. I think there are multiple options out there for adults, and these aren't necessarily the ol' "tin grin" or "metal mouth" variety.

Even if you did end up with a traditional style of orthodontics, I can't see where you are going to lose your current friends or not be able to meet new friends. Sure, some might not like 'em, but isn't the likelihood the same that they or you may not have been truly interested in one or the other for reasons that not having a thing to do with braces?

The invisilines are great for adults. Don't think you will lose any playmates or friends Spoo. Just as an aside, I think you look great the way you are! But if you want to do it for yourself, go for it.
There are things that I would like to change about myself, so I know how that feels.
But, we all love the little purple monkey for just what he is!
And btw, I have no idea what you are talking about.

I it something I am going to do, but the thought of getting braces at 37 is a little scary. RPU (the "Red Penile Unit" - - that slays me!) is right. There are a lot of reasons why people wouldn't like me. Braces wouldn't add to that already staggering list (I know that wasn't your point, it just made me chuckle )

Seriously - you are right. My braces probably won't add or detract much at all and I will probably get the ones that are tough to notice.

Oh - and Mrs. PL... You are just too sweet and totally made my morning!

Actually - I found a website where there are people who have a bit of a braces fetish; headgear and all! In fact, some folks actually have "fake" orthodontics to use for play.

I first have to say that I agree with MrsSpoo that you have a very sexy mouth. I do not find braces to be a turn on but some guys wear them well and since you are already a very sexy purple monkey, those would just add to your already glowing sexiness.

I have never had a fantasy of being with a guy who had braces, guess because I have always seen or heard stories about them but I would be game to try anything...If you need to try them out on someone, I would volunteer.

Whether you get them or not Spoo I again do not think you would loose any playmates as MrsPL stated, cause you are the sexiest purple monkey I have ever seen. facelick

I think that you should go for it Spoo. Like you said yourself, it is something that will help you feel better about yourself and that's is what is important. I think that people will overlook the braces, because you are so much more than orthodonthic work, I mean you're one of a kind poo flinging purple monkey. I'll even make a trip north in my school girl outfit while you are wearing those braces and we can make out in the backseat of a car! I might let you get to second base

Seriously, I understand where you are coming from - James have very much the same situation. He needed some dental work and it truly affected how he felt about himself to the point where he wouldn't smile. You've met James - that's a scary thing LOL. I forced the issue, because even though I loved him no matter what, he really let it affect him. Long story short, he got the work done, and now he smiles and you can see the complete turn around in his self confidence. Do it Spoo, you won't regret it.

I think you should do what makes you feel good.

Remember our friend "Molly"? She never had any trouble finding playmates while she was wearing braces and she is 46. She just had them removed a few months ago and she is really happy with the results.

I also already like you the way you are and I think Mrs. Spoo loves you the way you are too but sometimes we just need to do things for our own self esteem and there is noting wrong with that.

So to answer your question - I'd still do ya

I got braces when I was 30 (20 years ago). My orthodontist told me that when adults wear braces, your age automatically drops by 10 years. That was a great selling point for me! I wonder if he'd put them back on today, even though I have no dental reason for needing them.
