We both shave our nether regions completely, but the last month or so when hubby has shaved he's gotten razor bumps afterward. He hasn't switched shaving creams or razors or anything and has tried shaving before & after shower which makes no difference whatsoever. (Hot water softening the pores) What do you do to A. Prevent this from happening in the first place B. Get rid of the bumps once they've already cropped up. We have a play date this weekend (He stopped shaving last week to 'heal') & he's worried that when he shaves again that he'll get bumps & he's worried that if he does (& bumps return) , the woman will be turned off/grossed out, but the couple shaves & expects the same of us. Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks in advance! Dee (& an absent Nick) |

| Swingers Board Addict | First, Welcome to the Board! It could be the time of year. Weather changes can cause skin to become more sensitive. Have you tried and after shave cream or gel? I have started to use the sensitive skin ladies Intuition razor and I really like it. No bumbs yet. You could also use a dipilitory like Magic Powder, too. Someone on the board suggested using Dove deoderant several months ago, and as funny as it sounds, I have been using it, and really like it. It is very easy to apply, comes unscented, is soothing and conditioning.

I've got smooth but sensitive skin and like Mr Indy the shaving bumbs seem to be a sporadic thing. I've tried hot and cold water, changed razors/cream etc. I've used witch hazel to soothe but it doesn't help the bumps. Tried pure aloe vera. Still haven't hit on anything that works. If you find a good solution, please share! |

You are going to hate me for this but... Proactive solution ... it really does work... I even use it on my binkini line and ,well since I have the classic , "I play, so I am bare as a baby" shave pattern... razor rash is an issue. I haven't had a problem with anything ( except the occasional nick) since I started using it. I shave with a shaving cream or edge and then use the wash and finish with the lotion. I have had some people tell me using an electric razor will solve the problem also...but I haven't tried that... I like the sensuality of the foam and the vibrating razor. I wonder if proactive will ever use Jenna Jameson or some such porn star saying... Proactive saved my coochie...rolflmao Last edited by BodyScape02 : 11-01-2005 at 02:16 PM.

| Swingers Board Addict | OH... one more thing... Cotizone (like cortaid) is suppose to help with the shaving bumps. I haven't tried it, but that is what the urologist suggested when Mr.Indy got his VAS and was shaved. I know having dry, cold skin makes it worse. They always recommend shaving at the end of a bath or shower. I wonder about waxing?

| addicted lurkers :) | using an exfoliating scrub (st ives apricot scrub) really helps as well, use it the day after you shave and till the hair starts really growing back. You will have very few to no bumps...along with the dove deodorant as well Hope this helps!

Mr. Snsual will have to try the proactive, but considering our weekend is coming up, I'll tell him to try the exfoliating scrub w/the dove. Hopefully everything goes smoothly. haha Corny pun intended. And since there are some people with the same problem... has this ever been a problem when you get together with another couple? Has it been a turn-off or anything like that? Anyway, thanks again! I'll tell Mr. Snsual as soon as we have a minute alone...he'll appreciate it. |

Shave with the grain! Still, there's no way short of waxing to get it completely smooth, there'll always be some sharp stubble on the pubic region above your family jewels. Not heard of "Proactive" solution -- are we talking those horrible, irritating chemicals they call "depillatories?" Or is it something else? |

It is benzoyl peroxide based but doesn't dry out your skin.. Thing is..It really does work... I went through acutane and after still had break outs on my face... this is what keeps it clear. SO I just decided to use it one day on razor rash under my arms... it takes two weeks to work...but boy in three days big differance... then when I started shaving my mound of venus ... well I gave it a try...works wonders. you need very little and it can be used up to 3 times a day. how is that for TMI?

If I do one stroke per area of skin, no bumps. If I go crazy and just keep shaving and shaving over and over (you know, to get that LAST little hair) then I get bumps.Agree with the cortisone thing, I use it when I do get bumps and it gets rid of them pretty quickly. | mildly abnormal | I've had no luck with Cotizone. But the Dove deodorant has worked perfectly! Also (and it took me a suprisingly long time to find this so I hope you appreciate it!), Alura made a great post on this subject a while back. here's the link.

Matter of fact, he even nicked himself shaving, & it stopped the cut from bleeding, & it's healing up already. Go figure. Thanks! |
