Hood Piercings

I am new to the boards so this may have already been posted here. But I am at work when I view and don't have the time to scroll through all the history. It would be much appreciated if someone could direct me to a thread that might address this issue, and will free up some of you guys to not have to answer something all over again.

Here goes:

I am VERY interested in having my hood pierced. But my piercer (he did my belly button) said that his aftercare instructions include abstaining from sexual intercourse for a MINIMUM of 5 weeks. I just CANNOT do that! Nope, there is no way, no how .... it's just not possible at all for me! :rollseyes

Oh, he said I could masturbate .... and of course he doesn't know we are swingers, but in my mind how do you go from swinging full throttle and having sex every day with your husband to NO SEX FOR FIVE WEEKS??????

So, to those of you who have them .... how long did you wait, what precautions did you feel you had to take when you did have sex, if any, and did you have any problems?

I really want to do this, but it is so mitigated by the fact that I really want to have sex all the darn time, so how to decide????

I've heard anywhere from 5 to 6 weeks for a hood piercing to heal. I mean think about it, you have an open wound with a piece of metal sticking through it in a very sensitive area. You don't want that to rip, or get infected. And sex would only increase the healing time. You have to give it time.

I would love to get one or two rungs of a "Jacob's Ladder", but the healing time is the same so I don't think I will. At least for now.

S got her hood pierced and we waited maybe 5 days and there hasn't been a problem. Most piercers will say 6 weeks at least as far as healing time. I had gotten a 4 rung jacobs ladder and in 5 days I was going full throttle. Follow the aftercare instructions as far as keeping it clean and watch for signs of infection and use your judgement. D

I have a hood ornament, and I think abstained for 10 days. My aftercare instructions were to wait until it was healed, which they estimated would be about 2 weeks. Since it's a very small piece of skin and the tissue type is like the skin in your mouth, which heals very quickly, it's not a really long time to have to abstain. There's a number of websites with personal experiences and pictures.

Angel had her hood pierced several years ago and loves it. Her piercer recommended waiting 6 weeks. We were both so turned on by the expierence that we could not wait and we ended up having sex within 6 hours. We did only rear entry with no direct clit stimulation for two weeks until we were sure that the wound had healed sufficiently for other positions.

I too have my hoodie done.
I certainly could NOT wait over a week..needless to say 5-6 weeks! EEEEKKK!

Mine bleed real bad the first few hours. I kept cotton balls around it to keep it from bleeding to bad.

I would say it was 4-5 days at the most before hubby and I was back at it HARD.

Alright, thanks to those of you who posted that there was a chance, small that it may be, that I won't have to wait what might seem like an eternity to jump right back on that saddlehorn again, I TOOK THE PLUNGE and got it pierced today ... after work!

It hurt for a split second when the needle went through !!!! I just got my belly button done about 6 weeks ago, and it was a much sharper pain than that!!!

But, no bleeding then or now (it's been about 6 hours!), no pain since the initial needle penetration, and it looks sooooo good!

I had hubby meet me at the parlor to hold my hands and enjoy the surprise (I think he thought I was having my nipples done - we had talked about that previously - maybe in about a month. ) His only reservations were 1. remembering that the belly button piercer said it would be five weeks and 2. that we are tubing down the river this weekend and he is very worried about my getting an infection. He knows that my belly button is being a little stubborn to healing.

Anyway, so far so good ... I can't wait til we can "share" our little surprise and get back into the "swing" of things again! Most of all I can't wait for hubby to get to truly experience it (and me too) for the first time!

One question for those hoodie veterans ... how do you soak a clit in a cup of warm sea salt water???? I think I got the soaking of the belly button down ... I just tip the cup over my belly and seal it around it and hold it there. Not comfortable, so any other suggestions are truly appreciated. I guess this would have been a good question for my piercer (who, by the way, was extremely professional, knowledgeable and helpful - anyone in the Dallas area who is considering this, PM me and I will let you know where I had it done!)

My hood is not pierced, but I think filling a large, shallow bowl up with the saline water and sitting in it would work.

You could go to a medical supply store and see if they have Sitz Baths.

Run a very shallow bath and dump some salt in it. Then sit.

As for the belly taking a lot longer. That's just the plight of the belly button. As you mentioned the tongue and the hood are very quick healing. You belly on the other hand just doesn't get the same kind of attention from your body in terms of repairs. Mine was about 6 months before it was healed.

S used a yogurt container with the saline solution and spread the lips and planted the piercing in it and then cupped it. worked great. I saw you mentioned your nipples. When you do have your nipples done when you go to bed. WEAR a SHIRT TO BED. Trust me on that one. I had my nips done and ignored it the first night. The rest of the nights that it took to heal I wore a shirt. D

With the hood piercing the salt water soaks really aren't necessary(they aren't a deep piercing), just use a mild antibacterial soap (like dial) then urinate afterwards (your urine is sterile) sounds kinda wierd but it works. And sex with a rubber is ok you just aren't s'posed to get any body fluids in your piercing. HTH. BTW my hood is my favorite piercing, I'm going to have a bigger ball put on the ring to rest in "just the right spot"

Well ... since someone wanted to comment on my thread, I thought I would post a little update.

It's been several weeks, and I am all healed up. We didn't wait the 5-6 recommended weeks; we were pretty much getting after it within a couple days. At times, through the past weeks, I would notice some tenderness after we had sex, but that was when it was still healing. And we did try to take it easy for awhile.

Now, it's doing very well. Never experienced any bleeding or infection from the moment it was done. I have to say that I didn't do too many salt water soaks on it at all, but I did use some chamomile tea for awhile and it seemed to help heal it faster.

Since some time has passed, there really isn't any tenderness anymore, but I have been a little dismayed to find that when in "normal" situations (i.e., walking, sitting, standing, climbing stairs) I don't even notice it at all!!! From what I had read about it, the piercing, if done just right, would allow for almost constant stimulation in those "normal" situations. Not so in my case.

I am going to be shopping around for some different jewelry now that it's healed up, though, so maybe I can find just the right thing to give me what I am looking for.

BTW, hubby loves it .... he gets so turned on when we are having sex playing with it, licking it, sucking it .... and that in turn turns me on (well, so does the actual feeling of it all too!)

Thanks for giving us all an update, txduo. I'm happy to hear that your piercing is doing well. Not to burst your bubble or anything, but everyone I know who has a hood piercing has said that the reviews are a little overstated (but I suppose you've figured that out already...) While hood piercings are cute and somewhat stimulating, it's not all that likely that you'll be getting off constantly just from sitting at the dinner table.

Did you get a vertical or a horizontal? vertical is more stimulating, but horizontal looks nicer, but has to be positioned so the ball ont he ring is positioned to rest directly on the clit. Anyway enjoy!!

Mine is vertical ... still no constant stimulation.

However, it's not that I want to necessarily be in the throes of orgasm 24/7, but rather, just to feel that it is there when I walk. lol

It's not a huge deal ... it's still VERY effective during the sex.
