| Here to Stay | Ok, this area is about the best place i can think of to post this, so here goes. I have a sinus infection and went to the doc today and he gave me the new zithromax 3 day series of antibiotics. My problem is hubby and I are going to a house party on Saturday night, and i don't want my "flavor facelick " to be off. This probably sounds stupid, but I'm afraid that the anitibiotics might change things and was wondering if i should delay starting them. I know when i'm on antibiotics i get a yeast infection, but that doesn't happen till about a week afterwards for me, so thats not really what i'm concerned about. Has anyone ever had these kind of side effects, or am i just worrying about nothing? I couldn't bring myself to ask my doctor, this was the first time meeting him, i don't want him to think i'm a nympho right off the bat! Thank you in advance for all your wonderful advice!! |

| Canadian, eh? | Hi tracy, I wouldn't be shy about speaking up to the doc about it. They're supposed to be professionals offering a service...namely to keep you healthy and answer your health-related questions. If he has an opinion - and is professional - he'll keep it to himself. Otherwise, you could actually call him on his un-professional attitude. If you're not the confrontational type, though, you could mention to the doc that you and your hubby had a 'special' weekend planned together, and that sex was definitely going to be a part of it. Does this medication cause any changes in body secretions that might be considered...um...unpleasant? Particularly taste? (What?! It's the 21st century ya know...) Worst case scenario, everyone blushes for about 10 seconds and then he clears his throat and rhymes off the answer from his med-school textbook. No biggie. If I were you, I'd go ahead and start the meds. If it were me, I'd rather go without oral sex and be healthy than feel like crap because my sinus infection started to get out of control. The meds take at least 24 hours to start kicking in, so get it under control sooner rather than later.

| Mod Squad Member | Antibiotics always give me a yeast infection too so whenever a doctor prescribes them I ask for a script of Diflucan at the same time and start them at the same time. Seems to help. Call your doctors office and tell them, they won't think twice about as it happens to alot of women.

If you are still concerned try using a little hydrogen peroxide and water and use it as a douche. With a yeast infection one thing that works is also using plain yogurt and place it in the vagina wait 10 minutes or so and then wash it out. The active enzymes in yogurt will kill the yeast and put you back in balance. D

Don't wait to start the antibiotics, you could end up so miserable by Saturday if that infection gets worse... you might not even want to play. Maybe this weekend would be a good time to play around with all those flavored lubes or lotions (whatever they are) and then you would just taste like chocolate or strawberries.

WOW! Does this really work or is it SAFE?I have never heard of anything like that being used. The only thing I have heard is use a little vinegar and water as a douche. But peroxide???? I have also heard yogurt has active bacteria that will cause more of a problem.. does anyone know more on this topic??? | |

Here's an article that will explain a little bit about yogurt and peroxide.
