So, what works? Theres gotta be an easier way. Us ladies have it rough. Not only do we have to have silky smooth, hairless skin, but we get the gift of the monthly cylce as well. bummer

I agree with that "monthly bummer" thing!

Unless you're on that noriplant (sp?) birthcontrol thingie (5 tubes implanted in your arm), you get the pms, but not the monthlies/menses.

As for the shaving, I'm still waiting for more suggestions here myself....*lol*

I've been told that putting aloe on your skin after shaving helps prevent the chicken skin after affect.

Well I just purchased a tube of something called Bump stopper? I'll have to check..it is marketed for black men..I used it for the first time Saun and I am pleased so far with the results..especially since on Sat morn I had run out of my fave 3 blade razor and had to borrow a one bladed razor!!OUCH! Got a very awful rash from that...The stuff is helping loads! I'll post more in the week as I use it and let you know how well it is working!

My wife simply uses a Razor in the nether regions. I don't know how long it took her to get used to it, or if she has, and No, I didn't ask her to shave it down there, she just got tired of me hacking on a hair now and then, and I have to admit, it was very nice the next time I went down. The key to any shaving also, no matter where it is, Is to use as hot a water as you can stand, and make sure the area shaved is clean before doing so. The Hot water opens the pores and swells the hair to allow for an easier shave.
Not to mention closer one.

What works best for me is to use a damp washcloth with very hot water. Allow that to sit on my pubic area for a while to soften the hair and open the pores. Then apply shaving cream and shave, making sure to rinse the razor regularly. This (compared to shaving it in the shower or with soap, whatever) seems to work best for me at getting a nice clean shave without the bumps.

Thanks! The shaving in the same direction trick works. We have been keeping the wife's mound closely trimmed for years due to the breaking out after shaving but this worked.She's naturally blonde sothis gave the appearance of being shaved without the stubble.

I'm having the "red bumps"problem, too. I shave the labia completely, with a triangle on top. I also think it looks better with a little bit of hair.
I made hubby shave his package, because he was laughing at my itching after I shaved the first time.

I've been shaving in the tub, so I'm going to try the hot washcloth trick. I tried the shaving in the same direction, but I end up cutting myself that way.

I was going to try waxing, but after reading the pther posts, I don't think so.

I did buy the Aigia creams (not the instrument, though-I had heard about the electric shocks) I use the pre-epilation one before I get in the tub, and the post-epilation one after I shave. That's been working very well on legs and underarms, and somewhat helping on the crotch, too.

Has anyone tried that new epil-stop stuff? It looks promising, but I don't want to be the first!

I thought I was the only one with a horrendous NAIR story!
I used it on both legs, too (thinking that testing it first stuff was for wimps) and then went in our pool, not knowing hubby had just shocked the pool (adding acid and chlorine) I swear, I walked on water getting out of that damn pool! I ended up in the E.R. trying to explain how I got 2nd and 3rd degree chemical burns on my legs and...you know! Thank God they were sympathetic, and gave me Morphine for it!

I did the nature girl thing for about 8 months after that, refused to shave at all! Let's just say I'm a little apprehensive about chemicals now!

OMG! That reminds me, I went swimming in the pool afterwards too! *LMBO* My legs had this burning sensation! I ended up with rash/hives all over BOTH my legs! And then that "needles" feeling kicks in while in the pool, and by this time, you don't want NOTHING touching your legs, but it's hard to take a shower without getting your legs wet! Sheeessshh....*Shaking my head*
