Interesting. My wife had a tummy tuck/breast reconstruction surgery 2 weeks ago. We saw the surgeon today. Two drains were removed - which may her very happy, even gave sex a brief thought. Dr. said "healing is suberb - have faith the seams won't come undone, but no exercise for 3 wks." Can start driving though. I asked about pre vs. post op weight loss and was told it made no difference. The results are amazing and much healing is still left. We agreed that it felt great to again add the "s" to "breast" when that sweet topic is raised. Ya know its such a "work in progress" - she also has to deal with only 1 nipple, as the other will be a tatoo.

My questions:

I realize the following thoughts are most importantly discussed with her, so ultimately they WILL be (to the extent not already open topics) - but these are issues on the back burner for a few more weeks as recovery takes hold and her thoughts drift away from "where's that foot stool, I need to lay down". Her 2 seams (or incisions) were glued - not stitched - was that your experience? I couldn't care less about any scars myself - the masectomy never bothered me in the least, though it did make her insecure even after 13 yrs of marriage (she's 37). We are in the "seriously curious" phase - she is expressing ongoing interest in mfm and is increasing bi-curious. Any thoughts whatsoever on how her residual scarring, etc. may affect her self-esteem (i.e. willingness to be with others)? Thanks for any advice or shared experiences.

I decided on Lipo because I didn't want the scar from hip to hip. My scars are the size of a dime (7 in all) and you can't see them unless I point them out. I did have to be careful about not getting them sunburned for the first year and a product called Maderma is great for scar reduction. The ironic part is that I was so worried about a scar from a tummy tuck and three years after the lipo I had to have major surgery which left a scar running from an inch above my belly button down to the pubic line. I'm not self concious about it at all.

Your age and your skin type will also determine whether lipo or tummy tuck are in order. If your skin is not elastic enough then the lipo is less effective because it will not spring into shape. This is why I wanted it done before I was 35. The doctor can tell you if your skin is the right type.

Julie as for the lycra suit I don't really know if they have different types but I would ask. I didn't know about the suit until I woke up wearing it and it was god awful ugly. My doc also had letters for us to read from prior patients and recommendations to contact. He had before and after pics on a computer slide show that was neat.

Good Luck

I had a tummy tuck in May. My incision is from hip to hip. My scar is fading and honestly dont realize I have it. As far as sex goes, I can not keep my husband off me. He barely notices my scar. The line is so far down, when I wear string bikinis or very low rise jeans or thongs it is completely covered. My self esteem is 300% improved. I was always cute but now I carry my head high and not worry about what people will think of me when I am in a bikini. I look totally hot and sex has never been better. If I had known how a tummy tuck would change my like, I would have done it years ago.

Eager - wonderful news and passed on to the better half. How long after tummy tuck did you start having sex again? Was it full out or cautious?

We're new to this great site as well, plan on first experience (mfbm) after her recovery and final procedure - lift and tuck of old breast, to match new one. May\June probably. Have you had first time yet? How was it?

I have had no problems with my scar. It runs hip to hip along the "bikini line", so I can wear bikinis with no problem. I personally have no problems about my scars, and neither does my husband. I figure we are the only 2 that really count right? So with that said if someone else has a problem with it, it is thier problem. As far as getting back into the lifestyle it took a good 6 months. Think of it as having a baby. We started out slow like I was a virgin again (he liked that), and when I was comfortable with him, and back to my usual self then we were active once more. Everyones timeline is different. Go at her pace. She will let you know.

Love the emphasis on letting her set the pace. Thank God my husband understood and respected that part of the recovery.

Has anyone ever had any kind of tummy surgery where there was already scar tissue present? I have a massive amount of adhesions..or so they say from the songrams..i.e. my uterus is around the size of a 4 month pregnacy because of it...<is this too much info?> sorry but I never run into anyone that has had this done..or they deny it one I have been told a surgery to have this scar tissue removed is in my future as it will start causing more pain then it does now... however I want to wait and hopefully insurance will cover some of this cosmetic side once this is done..but I am scared to even broach it knowing what the last Dr. told me when I had my last child...any ideas on this from anyone?
But this gives me a look of forever being a little bit pregnat, some what like the one poster said about her Mother..I am sure this is all from the C sections I had to have...but it is hard on the self esteem....Mr. Midnight says get it done he will do anything he has to pay for it if it will make me feel better, it does not bother him in the least one way or the other...Bless his heart.

Hey everyone,
Im having my T T on May 4th and I have so many mixed emotions. Im excited, Im stressed about the price ( 7,100 ) Im worried it wont be the out come i expect and I am thinking ahead and wondering what playing will be like after.

Im a very small thin 27 year old mom of 3 , 3 c sections, 2 bowel resections and appendix removed. The reason for my TT is really because of all my scaring and stretch marks. Im scarred now and Im very self concious of it, especially when we meet new people. Im just wondering how Im going to feel about my new scar and if i will be pleased with the outcome. As for pain, Im not worried, with all the sergeries Ive had Im a pro with belly pain.

I am wondering though, how much time did you take off from the scene before you felt ok. Pain wise and look wise.

Also, I didnt talk with my dr about the " garment" I will be wearing. All they said is " ill be going home in a garment" Can anyone tell me what this is and what it looks like? More importantly, is it aggrivating.

And one more question, Sorry, When can I actually see my results? LIke see my skin, my new scar and bely button . I know I should ask my Dr this I just didnt think about it.
Heather

Well, we certainly have a lot of ladies speaking out regarding cosmetic surgery. I truly wonder if I am the only man that has done it or if I am the only one willing to admit it.

First off, I was the greasy four eyed geek in school that most of you ladies woudln't speak to back then. Over the last 15 years, I have had lasik, vasectomy, liposuction, and abdominoplasty. I spent 11 hours in surgery. The pain was more of a turn on than anything else. Although cautious at first because I didn't trust just how much stress my glue and suchers would take, my s/o and I were able to procreate after only 3 days (some of the best I can ever remember, too). The pain relievers the doctor gave me (something with codiene in them) made me violently sick the first day or so, I woke up, threw up, past out. Terrible cycle. But after he replaced them with loritabs...I felt much better. I worked at home. So I was back in the office after a 4 day weekend to recover. My mother paid for the whole thing. I was her guinea pig. Obesity runs in our family, so she had the same done 6 months after I recovered. I would love to do it again.

Things to know: most believe that it is unhealthy to extract more than 30lbs during the procedure, this includes not only the fat they take out, but also the fluid then injected to desolve it. anything more than that is considered dangerous. over the next 6 months I continued to lose weight, the doctor explained that your body gets a metablism burst after the surgery, the weight shed off a few pounds each week. In 6 months i dropped from 270 down to 175. I never felt better. i have gained some of it back ( presently 225). but i still feel great, i look better than ever, age has no hold on me.

Most recently my mother has decided at 56 years of age, that she wants to turn the clock back, she has discovered low level laser therapy ( similar to accupressure only with lasers). She looks 10 years younger and has only been doing the treatments for 3 weeks. (about 5 minutes per session, 2-3 sessions per week) now she is considering opening up clinics throughout the state.

My wife had a tummy tuck and lipo a few years ago. She was pretty much out of it for 2 days and was off work about a week.

She doesn't regret it at all, but as the one who had to help her into that blasted body garment for 6 weeks, I didn't care much for it! At least she is now happy with the results and is planning future lipo on her thighs.
