tattoos of your hubby's name?

found out today that one of the ladies i work with has a tattoo of her hubby's name on a private part of her body. she said that at one point her hubby worked out of town a lot and was worried she was gonna mess around on him...so she went and had a tattoo done right down there. her idea was that well no guy would want to go down on her if her hubby's name was there in front of him. lol I just thought it was kinda funny and cute. Anyone else done this or know of others who have??

In my opinion it's almost never a good idea to get someone's name tattooed on you. Too many things can happen, but you'll have to live with the name forever. Unless you get it removed (very painfull) or get it covered. I have heard of people getting this done though.

I think it is cute. I wanted to get a tattoo down there with hubby's initials. He thought it was cute too, but didn't want me to get a permanent tattoo right there.

I had Ted's name tattooed on my left breast over 18 years ago...over 19 years ago he had my name put on his left arm in a scroll that went through a heart, this has since faded and you can barely see it at all. A little over two years ago he had my name made into an arm-band on his right arm...it's about 2-3-inches high and black...it's actually cool looking but, I was concerned about this one because of it being so big and asked him numerous times before he had it done if he was sure about it as well as the guy who did it for him asking him the same question. His answer was..."She's been my old lady for over 20 years, neither one of us are going anywhere." I really hate it when he calls me his "old lady" but he has assured me it is with the upmost love and respect when he does

Getting a tattoo of any kind is a HUGE decision...having someone's name tattooed on you is even a bigger one.

I'm not an appreciator of tatoo's...that's a given. I guess I'm just too young to appreicate them.

But I agree that this would be a HUGE decision. We never know what might happen down the road...things from divorce to death and all things in between. It would be one thing to have a tatoo of a design to live with forever, but something quite different in terms of a name of a former spouse.

As for the original posters comments about

Well...I think most of us know that wouldn't stop someone that wanted to play around on their spouse - or play around with someone's spouse. - EBF

I tend to agree that a name is something to live with forever regardless of future situations that may arive. The Mrs and I have a small matching tatoo on our back, right shoulder area. Unfortuanatly they are to small to really notice the initials and date of our marriage, although if you are close enough to read them, we must be doing something right

And tatoos in general, well I can't say that it bothers me if others have them in whatever make they desire since I have 5 total at the moment. So like most things in life it is whatever floats your boat, so to speak.

When my hubby & I were first married I wanted to get a tattoo on my bikini area that read:

If found, please return to ______ (insert hubby's name)

I'm glad he talked me out of it now that we're swinging!

Now I'd like to get a tattoo of the USDA "A" grade seal.

Yep, it sure is. I've read that you should think about it for a year first and if you still want to do it, then go ahead.

However, for my next one, I'm going to have J's (and the kids') initials be part of the design. We've been together for 23 years and we'll be together until we die (which will hopefully be a long, long time!). I hope to have that done sometime this fall...
