How often do you have sex with your partner?

I just read a statistic (and you know how accurate they are) that 50% of couples in the lifestyle have sex 4 or more times per week...

We typically "monkey around" 5 or more... We laugh about how weird we are when one of us wants to take the night off... I'm not complaining...

Anyway - my question would have made a great poll, except I have no idea how to do something so technical (I have just managed to figure out fishing for ants with a stick.). Is the average dorrect?

Granted, couples with small kids or big kids who are high drama/traffic/maintainence might have trouble finding THAT much alone time. But I am curious about the rest of us. And do you think it has anything to do with being involved in swinging, or is the opposite true - that you are involved in swinging because you had a highly charged sex life before hands. I'd vote for that, since we have actually "settled" into a 5 time per week pattern... We have always been highly active sexually and see swinging as more of a "spill over".

Anyway - what are the REAL stats?

We are about 4 days a week but we work different shifts and only see each other about 15 minutes a day . But sometimes we will do it more than once a day

I wish we could have more alone time! We have 2 little kids. One will be 1 in June the other will be 3 in June. We still do pretty good. We have sex 3-4 times a week. But we do go to bed pretty early. I (female half) am lucky if I can stay awake through the 10 o'clock news! lol

Well.... I think we averaged twice a day last week (and that was just with each other). Not that it's always like that of course. Red works three nights every week (9pm to 8am), so we do get a break. Wednesday is her first night off work in the week, so Wednesday nights we don't tend to get to sleep very early

Yes, the one remaining "kid" at home does limit things a little, though as she is 19 now, we don't worry too much - she can always power up her CD-Walkman if we are getting too noisy

I would say we average 2-3 times a week. We have 2 young ones as well, so a lot of time is spent running after them making sure they don't destroy everything in sight. And no, WR it better not count for "being in a bed" else we'd be down to zero. With the two little ones, we HAVE to be creative as to when and where we can get it on.....And it always makes for pretty interesting memories (each of us gets a smile whenever the dryer starts up LOL)

We go through periods where we will have sex everyday, sometimes twice a day then we will go through periods when we are lucky to get it in once a week. He works third shift--I work first. So we aren't on the same schedule. Right now we are on a middle average between the two...so I'd say so far five times this week. Pretty good

We have two boys and never really let the kids deter us from getting it on. We taught them at a young age that when Daddy and Mommy's door is shut...you go sit on the couch and wait....watch TV....play video games. It worked. Now they just roll their eyes and absolutely can't believe that we still have sex "at our age".

That is awesome GirlieZ! We can't wait till our kids are old enough to teach them that. We try not to let our kids deter us either. But it can be a real mood killer when we think they are fully distracted in their room, we sneak to ours, close the door, start to get it on & there is a little bang on the dorr & when it isn't opened the littlest starts crying. It sure is hard to keep going. But it sure does make for some funny memories!

We did the same thing when ours were little , we called it Momma and Daddy time. Now that they are older they have gotten used to us spending all our time in the bedroom and we still get the :rollseyes: .

With Ted traveling during the week it kind of brings our average down to 3-4 ...we spend every weekend making up for lost time. On the weeks that he is at home it's usually every night. The last week he was home we missed one night and I called him at work the next day complaining...he answered the phone and I said...Hey, we didn't have sex last night can we have it tonight? Yes, be in bed at 9:00 and I will meet you there. Ok, Love you, bye.

We always had a very active sex life before swinging so I will have to go with we are involved in swinging because of it. Although that's not the only reason

we try to average at least 4-5 times a week but doesnt always happen that way. Sometimes more sometimes less. Our boys know that if we are in our room they have to leave us alone but that doesnt always happen either...lol

Now as for the lifestyle changeing our sex life and the amount. Well, kinda i would have to say. I know i am more aggressive now at starting things and it does seem to be alot more "hotter" sex than before. It did kinda liven things up a little. But we have both always loved sex so....it only light up a little fire and get us back to when we were dating again!!

my 2 cents for the day!!

We've got 2 young children and I (Mrs) have a son who's 20 and we have always had a good sex life but when our youngest was born Mr. changed his shift to nights for extra money and I stayed at home, so the only time we could get it was when the children were asleep, but we still managed it twice a week which was low. Also it took us 2 years of paper work and interviews etc to emigrate over here and that was quite stressful.

When we got here in Canada it's gone off the richeter scale and we are back to being rabbits Oh how I love Canada and it's about 5 times a week even though Mr. has to get up really early.

And if all goes well the weekend it could be more

We're on the every day plan (Multiples on weekends). We've been together about 7 years, and the only time we haven't had sex daily has been when one of us was away on business. Other than that, there have probably been fewer than 30 days missed in the entire time we've been together. It's probably been about three months or so since we've missed a day. Our kids are all teens, so no concerns about them interrupting, and our work schedules are nearly identical. We leave home within minutes of each other most days, and are usually home within a half hour of each other.

I would say we pretty much average 4 times a week, sometimes more, sometimes less. Work travel does get in the way most of the time...

There is no doubt that swinging has inspired some pretty "randy" weeks for us. But, we have yet to reach the heights CD is talking about... Twice a day for a week? Impressive, my friend...

I'm not sure what our average is, but I can tell y'all for sure that our average soared during last week's trip to the Meet Up! in Indianapolis. We enjoyed the time alone with just the two of us (no kids) a lot and the long hours driving to and fro, must have whetted our appetite even though most of it was spent reading (Worse Than Watergate by John Dean) to each other.

Maybe meeting all those attractive Swingers Board members had something to do with raising our libido, too, but we won't question the reason. We were really turned on... especially to each other.

I can't tell you how helpful this thread was. My hubby grips sometimes because we only "do it" 2 to 3 times a week, but it seems to me that we are normal ! Wow, normal us? I'm shocked We have 4 kids at home that go to bed at different times which makes it really hard to work around. Not to mention my auntie has been really, really screwed up. It sometimes visits for up to 2 weeks. I'd have the doctor take it all out if he would.

I don't believe anyone has brought up a time factor. I think it only fair to consider this carefully.

Let me explain:

Couple A has a ten-minute quickie each day of the week.

10 minutes X 7 days = 70 minutes of sex; just a little over an hour of sex each week.

Couple B has ninety minutes of lusty, indulgent, experimental sex twice a week.

90 minutes X 2 days = 180 minutes of sex; three hours of sex each week.

We probably average 6 to 9 hrs out of our 3 or 4 times a week. Making the most of our time.

Mrs. here, I would have to say that ours has increased significantly since we started swinging. from maybe 10 times a month to daily & about an hour and a half each time.

Well with us, normally we have sex 4-5 times a week. But lately, being that Tazzie is pregnant, and in the last weeks of it, our sex life has become pretty much non existant, mainly because of the baby is sitting on her right hip making it painful for her. And right now I (Truck) am ok with it. I am not about to make her do something that is uncomfortable for her.

About the poll though, there have been times where we were having sex about everyday and sometimes more than once a day. But that usually happened when the kids were not around or before we had kids. lol

This is a tough thing to try and keep alive in a relationship. We really have to work at it which diminishes the fun some.

Just the two of us, probably averages about 3 times per week, during the winter months it is less, during the summer a lot more. Also during the summer we usually get together once a week for some fun & sex, during the school year it is probably every other month we get together. Ho hum

We had to go with 5 times a week or more...yes we have two small chidren. Bedtime is at 9:00 after that its our time. Since we moved into the lifestyle the frequency has gone up from 3 times a week. It's hard keeping track of how often when it seems like it's everyday.

Sex is like a barometer. If something else is wrong then sex goes downhill. I had the problem before that many have when a lack of stella stud like performance results in "you having an affair?" "I am too fat" etc etc. But it was just not relaxing to argue like that. Now if tired some touching and caressing usually leads to oral then a quickie even if stressed and tired. Just start off with some touching and no expectations of a porno style 2 hour session. Nothing like performance worries (like with my ex) to kill sex. Keep those for a romantic weekend. Then not stressed anymore! And again it helps that the wife gets horny by just touching her once..... some people are more naturally sexed up than others. Fingers are great if you are too tired to rise to the occasion. But usually a moaning woman gets me going anyway. But for anyone some touching and mutual masturbation even when tired is surely a way to relax each other before sleep! Beats watching TV or having an arument

Mr. LFM and I might have sex more than once a day but not every day. So we might have sex about 7 times a week, on average.

Moreso in the Winter and less in the summer as we live 75 miles apart in the summer time and I only get Thurs-Sunday with him.

Dog and I don't live together yet so it is when ever we get together. But, fingers crossed, we can live together soon and then I think it will be 5,6 times a week. I really love sex, as does Dog.

Ok, I had to put an average of 5 times a week. Hubby works shift work. Shifts have been compatiable this week....6 days in a row with about 8 times. Don't mention that to him though. When he hears the numbers he likes to say he is spoiling me and better not give it to me the next day.

Spoo, about your question. I think we swing because we hit this groove about 10 years ago and it hasn't let up. Not that we don't have some very HOT sex after an encounter. But we more than likely would have made love anyway.

I voted 4 times a week. We were weekend only kind of people before we became active in alternative lifestyles. Swinging has perhaps just made us more aware of our sexuality and our desire for each other, so we are more consistent about it during the week now.

There are times we are having sex every day, and more than once a day. Other times, it's just a couple of times during the week. I tend to be more sensitive to life, in that a tiring day at work or a family issue does take down the sex drive, and thus we are less likely to have sex if it was a crappy day, or if I came home exhausted. My spouse isn't affected too much by such things (except by the effects of allergy drugs), so he'd be far more interested in every day.

Interesting question, even if it's an older one. And kudos to the couple that has children and still has a active sex life! I'm impressed!

When we were in the lifestyle, it was 2 or 3 times during the week, but usually 3 (for me) and sometimes as much as 6 (for her) on the weekend party nights, plus another one or two the next day.

However, I respond mainly to give warning to any men who have started to have prostate trouble (BPH, not cancer). When I started Proscar about two years ago, we were at about 4 or 5 times a week (without swinging). Within 2 months I was reduced to saying to myself around the 10 day mark, "Well, I suppose I have to do it again just to keep her happy." It was a catastrophe. I went off of Proscar and onto Avadart. That was worse. The drug companies are pushing this crap heavily through TV advertising, and the G.P. type doctors are falling for it. Be forewarned. Go to Mayo Clinic or somebody who really knows how to find the cause and to treat your problem without just throwing a lousy pill at you.

We are back to 2 to 4 times a week, but the effects are not completely gone yet after a year.
