We've been tracking this for a couple of years but since fashions are rarely timeless we've decided to track this one anew every year to see how fashions change.

What people do with their pubic hair changes with fashion as much as the hair on their heads, especially among us Lifestyle types.

Please answer with one combination representing both of you as a couple.

The three categories are:
Shaved - You take off all your pubic hair
Trimmed - You remove or trim some of your pubic hair (usually around genitals) but leave some there like a landing strip or triangle
Natural - You leave your pubic hair alone (think '70s porn)

Still shavers ^2. We started shaving before we got interested in swinging. Oral is sooooo much better

well the guys like a woman 'shaved' because of the hair, well do you really think we enjoy giving bj's with hair all over the place?

We've both experimented with shaving, but prefer natural or lightly trimmed (for evenness). Another fashion trend we're bucking. :EG:

Now that we're a month into 2011, here's a summary of how things have changed so far.

Men:
Shaved - 48.5 (up from last year's 34.7%)
Trimmed - 45.5% (down from last year's 56.1%)
Natural - 6.1% (down from last year's 9.2%)

Women:
Shaved - 69.7% (up from last year's 58.4%)
Trimmed - 27.3% (down from last year's 32.4%)
Natural - 3.0% (down from last year's 9.2%)

Most (69.7%) of our couples sport matching pubic hair length which is up from last year's 60.7%.

The most common combination this year is the same as last year:
"Man Shaved-Woman Shaved" at 45% of all couples.

Of course, with only 33 couples' responses in so far compared to 174 in 2010 and 206 in 2009 there really isn't enough data to draw any conclusions yet.

Him-the twig and berries are hair free but the rest is trimmed and neat.

Her-labia is hair free. Above that usually a mediumm sized triangle of pubic hair.
Used to do the total hair free look but decided we like some hair just out of way.

I'm male:

I drift between natural and trimmed.

I have a fetish for all natural women, but trimmed works too, I suppose. :)

Both shaved. I never in my life thought I would ever get used to a man completely shaving, I almost couldn't bare to look. Now I prefer it! (wouldn't turn down a guy who wasn't) My husband has very little body hair and I'm enjoying him being smooth all over.

I do a regular brazilian wax, have for several years. Bob shaves and I help him with the sensitive areas. When I was in my teens and early twenties I was a trimmer, mid twenties to 30 I shaved except for landing stripn and then I got the courage to wax and have done it ever since. I am to the point now where I still do it about every 3 to 4 weeks, my gal is sooo hot, but only about 20% of what I use to have grows back in. She does my legs and underarms as well. I've thought about laser to just be totally done with it.

Man Shaved - Woman Trimmed

I (man) shaved once and my then-wife helped with my sack, with liberal applications of tongue and lips. It was funny and hot to see her with shaving cream all over her face. The shaving part was fun, the post-shaving part, not so much. It itched terribly and there was a fair amount of razor burn, so I've never done it again, nor do I insist that my partner shave or wax, either. If she wants to it's OK but if she just trims or even goes natural, it's OK by me, also.

We are both shaved and I would not have it any other way. I hate hair in my mouth and have better use of my hands other than moving hair out of my way. The guy can be hairy everywhere but down there! :)

I get a brazilian wax about once every six weeks. I love the feeling of being waxed, but the sort of bad part is that you have to let the hair grow back in a bit before you can wax again, so you usually have at least a little hair. No one has complained so far, and the week right after a fresh wax is AWESOME!

Been doing waxing so long now that when it grows in it is super fine. In a pinch I shave it, but sometimes bob likes me to let it grow just a little beyond stubble, and do a little landing strip like the old days. I no longer have any hair growing between my vagina and the anus, that disappeared with a couple of waxings.

At nearly a quarter of the way through the year and at nearly 100 couples responding, let's see where we are:

Men:
Shaved - 46.9 (way up from last year's 34.7%)
Trimmed - 44.8% (way down from last year's 56.1%)
Natural - 8.3% (down from last year's 9.2%)

Women:
Shaved - 71.9% (way up from last year's 58.4%)
Trimmed - 26.0% (down from last year's 32.4%)
Natural - 2.1% (way down from last year's 9.2%)

Most (61.5%) of our couples sport matching pubic hair length which is up slightly from last year's 60.7%.

The most common combination this year is the same as last year:
"Man Shaved-Woman Shaved" at 43% of all couples.

With 96 couples' responses in so far compared to 174 in by the end of the year in 2010 and 206 at the end of 2009 we're getting enough data to see a trend.

MB1991

Since we're at 100 couples responding and thus the math is easy let's see where we are:

Men:
Shaved - 45% (way up from last year's 34.7%)
Trimmed - 46% (way down from last year's 56.1%)
Natural - 9% (about the same as last year's 9.2%)

Women:
Shaved - 70% (way up from last year's 58.4%)
Trimmed - 27% (down from last year's 32.4%)
Natural - 3% (way down from last year's 9.2%)

Most (62.0%) of our couples sport matching pubic hair length which is up slightly from last year's 60.7% and almost all of those are by couples that both shave.

While the most common combination this year is the same as last year:
"Man Shaved-Woman Shaved" at 41% of all couples in 2010 it had only been 30% so that's a major trend with almost half the couples sporting matching shaves.

At the 100 couple mark we're seeing roughly 1 in 10 men leaving their pubic hair natural with vast majority pretty evenly split between trimming and shaving. This is big growth in shaving from what was seen over the last two years with that growth coming this year from those who had trimmed in 2010.

For women, shaving is by far the fashion with well over 2/3rd of women here shaving and almost all the rest trimming. With 97% fashioning their pubic hair the natural look is down to only 3% and pretty much lost in the noise.

Whatever trend appeared in 2010 toward more pubic hair has certainly been not only reversed but the trend is moving even more bare than in 2009.

A few people seem to contrast between shaved and hairy.

Have you not run across men who are trimmed in the given definition such as a landing strip or small patch? What were your thoughts there?

My wife does the Brazilian every three weeks. I shave everything, nuts, ass, etc. but I leave a small trail (landing strip sized) that starts about an inch above my penis that runs up to my navel (wife likes something there) that is only 1/8 to 1/4 thick. It is barely noticeable in appearance.

Having said that...I have no hair anywhere on my body but my legs and arms so the trail ends at the navel because rest of my body is pretty smooth.

At the middle of the Summer break let's do a summary:

Men:
Shaved - 44.7% (way up from last year's 34.7%)
Trimmed - 48.0% (way down from last year's 56.1%)
Natural - 7.3% (down from last year's 9.2%)

Women:
Shaved - 70.7% (way up from last year's 58.4%)
Trimmed - 26.8% (down from last year's 32.4%)
Natural - 2.4% (way down from last year's 9.2%)

Most (61.8%) of our couples sport matching pubic hair length which is up slightly from last year's 60.7%.

Interesting topic:)

Me (she) - I have been shaving all but the landing strip for years and am unlikely to change that. Bare just looks, well...prepubescent? IMHO

He - only within the past 6 months has he starting manscaping so actively. He shaves his twig and berries, and neatly trims the rest closely.

I (male) have shaved scrotum and immediate 1/2 inch or so around base since i was 19. She has always been smooth, and is ditching the razor in favor of the laser. For me, the lack of thick pubic hair means fewer hairs to catch during condom on/off.

Back in the day , tried shaving a cpl times , but just looked silly to have a small bald patch when the rest of my body reslembled a Grizzly bear on two feet.

Used to like shaved women. Being told if I liked it like that , then I could do the daily touchup made me aprecate stubble just long enough to not be scratchy.

But now have come to prefer basically natural. Maybe a little triming to even things up , but nowhere near the poll defination of Trimmed.

I have been completely shaved for 10 yrs. while Jake shaves, or I should say I shave Jake, from just above his anus, up over his balls and a razor blade width around and above his dick. I think this style really shows off a man's playthings while also giving a nice frame of hair on top. Jake is a fan of completely shaved women, says oral sex is much more enjoyable. Shaving each other is also a great form of foreplay.

Ive only run into one "natural" gal in my travels so far. I would agree that most are shaved, with trimmed probably meaning some shaving but not all clean.

Natural is a bit different to see at this point, it really stands out.

I am laughing at the idea of a Pubic Fashion Runway Show....

However I could have used one recently as we decided what to do with J's "manscaping." Mostly I just laughed and he looked indignant! Ultimately, we went with trimming in a variety of areas and shaving in the pubic region. I LOVE it.

I am waxer who varies from a landing strip to a modified Brazilian depending on who is doing the waxing. If I leave any at all it is trimmed very, very close. I am strongly considering laser because even if the fashion changes I have no desire to follow that trend!

When we started swinging and registered on a couple of swing web meet sites we saw a lot of people insisted on their partners being shaved, some very forcefully worded.
I shave and Fiona uses one of those epilator machines that rip your hairs out

We now agree that even if we stopped swinging we'd carry on with the garden maintenance.

From a male perspective: I no longer have my pubes ripped out when I get a wild boner, I no longer have my pubes ripped out when a women puts her hands in my pants, I no longer have pubes falling into the urinal every time I have a pee.

Trimmed - 47.0% (way down from last year's 56.1%)
Natural - 10.7% (up from last year's 9.2%)

With just a day or so left in 2011 there's very little time left to vote in the Pubic Hair Fashion 2011 poll before it closes.

Look for a year end fashion trend summary and the new Pubic Hair Fashion 2012 poll on January 1st.

Wrapping up 2011's Year in Pubic Hair Fashion:

The trend this year has been toward shaving with huge jumps in the popularity of being fully shaved in both men and women.

For men, while trimming is still the most popular fashion that gap has gone from a just over 20 percentage point lead to only about five and for the first time no fashion style has a majority with men.

For women the gap between shaving and trimming is now over 40 percentage points with over two thirds of women fully shaved.

Men:
Shaved - 42.2% (up from last year's 35.1%)
Trimmed - 47.8% (down from last year's 55.7%)
Natural - 10.0% (slightly up from last year's 9.2%)

Women:
Shaved - 68.9% (up from last year's 58.6%)
Trimmed - 25.6% (down from last year's 32.2%)
Natural - 5.6% (down from last year's 9.2%)

The big trend toward shaved pubic hair set several new record highs and lows this year with record highs for Shaved pubic hair for both men and women and record lows for Trimmed for both men and women and Natural for women.

Most (58.3%) of our couples sport matching pubic hair length which is down from last year's 60.9%.

The most common combination this year, though was the same as last year and no surprise given the trends in the individual gender scores:
"Man Shaved-Woman Shaved" at 37% of all couples.

Now on to the 2012 version...
