Playboy September 2008 -- Swinging

Recommended Posts

A primer article appears in the September 2008 issue of playboy.

One of the symbols they point out: WWM is something we have never used? Simply the WMW may or may not involve WW play.

Are there any you found new/interesting?

I haven't rec'd the September issue yet... or maybe I need to check the nephew-unit's room for the missing issue.

You should check out the article "Swinging from A to Z" starting on page 92 of the September 2008 Playboy magazine. The article suggests that if you thought that swinging faded away in the Reagan years, you should look at your area's Craigslist or sites like swingersboard.com. "Craigslist" - I don't think so!! The article gives A to Z terms, an Alphabet and "A Lesson in the Lifestyle from an experienced teacher".

Enjoy!

They do give definitions for the acronyms that one is : Threesome involving two Bi sexual women and a man

According to the author WWM means that there are two bisexual women, playing with one Man. Although not identified in the article it would make a MMF two bisexual men playing with a woman.

Another one we've never previously seen is MW4MW, which means that one couple is looking for (4) another couple to play with. Each couple comprised of One Man and One Woman.

And we'd like to point out that we primarily subscribe to this magazine for the Articles!

Also, not in this article, but a previous one it mentioned that Hefner was drawn to the lifestyle early on. The story related to He and His brother, both of whom were married at the time, discussing that they wanted to swap partners. Hef's brother didn't go through with it, but Hef did... now that is just too far for us to even consider, screwing the in-laws!

I've heard of MMF for a male-bisexual 3some and MFM for a straight 3way.

Did they actually mention swingersboard.com?

Yep, you are NOW famous Julie! Right in the first paragraph:

"...Swingersboard.com lists no fewer than 25 communities and clubs in Texas alone and 35 in California...

Autographs around, Julie! :-)

They mentioned us in an article last year too, but it was buried pretty deep that I had read the article twice to find it, even though I knew it was there.

Yeah, what threw me was the use of W instead of F

I have to wonder how experienced the Playboy author is because he or she or they used "W" instead of "F". I admit I've not been around this scene more than a few years, but I've never seen "W" instead of "F". It's always MFM, etc. on all the sites I've visited.

That's my understanding also. Who made these up for playboy ?

Haven't seen the copy.... yet

I have only seen "F" used, not "W", as an abbreviation for women.

Mostly, I think, because when you see "W," it stands for "white."

(That never made sense to me, either - I would expect someone could tell your race from your pic, and if they COULDN'T tell, did it really matter? I have the impression that describing themself or who they're looking for by race means that the person/couple places a way higher emphasis on race than we are comfortable with. But I digress.)

I have seen m4w and similar abbreviations on Craigslist, but I wouldn't consider that a swingers site. What I've mostly seen there is men showing their dicks with the intention of enticing some woman into giving them a BJ.

(And wtf is up with THAT? Do they really think that the mere sight of their dick is going to make women line up to suck it? And what exactly are the women supposed to be getting out of this, except for the honor of being allowed to suck the mighty joy stick? Good grief. Sorry, I digress again.)

In a picky and technical world, the order of the initials does make a difference in describing who plays with whom - mfm = 2 straight males, one female; mmf = 2 bi-males, one female; etc. - but not everyone gets that nuance. So, like all things in swinging, you still gotta discuss with prospective partners rather than simply assume that they know, when you suggest an mfm, that no male play is going to happen.

I guess W stands for wife here

Pretty sure it means women

Fun4ds is on his way to get the Sept. issue now. :hahaha:

I'm thinking he is standing in line or at the door reading the article now.

Well, I just got through reading the swinger A-Z in Playboy. I was not impressed at all. The author may have been trying to inject some humor into it, but I was not amused.

I agree Billy!! Julie could have interjected some great information!!

I agree that interviewing Julie would have been great, but then, I guess they figured that she would pose for them like the other gal did.

I actually wrote them after the article last year and offered to be interviewed, but no one contacted me :(

I have to remember to pick up a copy while we are out and about today.

I would assume almost every person that buys Playboy does so for the articles.

I mean if you're paying for nude pics or porn these days, you're doing it wrong. :)

The author mentioned craigslist in the article, hence the reference to W instead of F, since that is the craigslist standard. We ran an ad on craigslist early on and actually got some good responses. Most of the ads that we responded to were either flakes, fakes or pic collectors. We have not tried to use it in a while.

Finally after 50 years, the cliche is now the truth.

They do mention Swingersboard in the Sept. Playboy. That's how the wife and I found this forum. They also did an article on a site called Red Cloud, but I like this one more because is seems a little more tastefully done. My wife and I aren't trying to get in to hard core crazy $%&! but wanted to find a place to meet cool people that would be interesting and more laid back. I personally glad that Playboy did the article.

Because of this thread I picked up the Sept Issue. I don't usually buy Playboy anymore. I didn't get a chance to read the swingers artical yet, but there was a really good article on the begining days of Guns and Roses.

I personally think the people that buy Playboy are getting it for the articles and some of the great interviews like in Sept's with Dana White from the U.F.C. If people were just buying the magazine for nude pics, you would think they would get a mag like swank or hustla because way fewer articles and way more pics. This is my opinion, the husband. The wife agrees but disagrees, shes saying that she knows people that buy Playboy for the nude pics because there more tastefully done, which is very very true.

Playboy Magazine???

Now THERE'S a name haven't heard in a while!

My DAD used to read that.

And HIS Dad (well a guy old enough to be) STILL publishes it!

Last time I even looked in Playboy was when they had Debbie Gibson nude. It was more of a deep-seated teenage curiosity that had to be fulfilled then anything else.

Ended up picking up both August and Sept. The local Books a Million evidently hadn't gotten the new issue in yet and I couldn't remember when I was standing there if it was Aug or Sept that had the article so I went ahead and got it... soon realizing it wasn't the right one... then ended up picking up the Sept issue in Nashville.

Not much of an article really... just a glossary really. So it was nice that we got a mention in the short little intro blurb.

I have permission from the author to post a link to his article. He's not a member of this website. The 'cracked dot com' website is the latest incarnation of the old Cracked Magazine -- a "Mad Magazine" copycat from a few years back.

So, just FYI. Here it is.

There actually is a Swingers reality show on PlayboyTV called Swing.
      Playboy TV

I've never seen it, but the concept is this:
Every week we will be inviting a new couple to our weekend retreat and mixing them with veteran swingers and trained sex experts. Some will find it brings them closer, while others will get torn apart

Hey all- just wondering if anyone saw the article on swinging in Self magazine and wanted to know your thoughts.

We thought it was pretty interesting that a mainstream magazine is discussing swinging! its pretty well written, lots of therapists opinions... nothing we didn't already know or think about.

Looking forward to hearing your opinions on it!

This is something I haven't really understood and thought I could get some guidance from the masses here!

Holli & Michael are kinda the celebrity faces of swingers and swinging. They are at a lot of swinger events as celebrities and the voice of swinger experience and knowledge to the non-swinger world.

Here's my question: They aren't really even "swingers" in the sense that the vast majority of us define the term. I mean, unless there's something we don't know, they aren't a "full-swap" couple in that she doesn't play with other guys.

Now, let me be VERY clear: I'm NOT saying that "swingers" only encompass "full-swap" or where both couples swap. Swinging is a very broad term.

With that said, I would like a couple that's, in effect, representing "swinging" to be a couple that has vast amounts of experience doing the thing that most "swingers" do: Couple full-swap.

I mean, there are all these vanilla news interviews with them where they share their experiences and say stuff like "Swinging has been great for our relationship! etc." ... but they aren't "swinging" in the sense that most of us (and the rest of the vanilla population) would interpret "swinging".

Again, I have no issues with them. They are cool people and we've even met them a couple times. I'm just bummed that the "face of swinging" is a couple that isn't really "swinging" (in the sense of the word that *most* people will understand it.

So, am I the only one that feels this way?

Does anyone know if Playboy's show "Swing" is still on or not and if so do you know where you can go to watch it other than ordering the playboy channel? We saw the first season of it and really liked it and it sparked some good conversations between us. I was hoping to watch more of that.

Also are there any other good shows similar to that?
