So yesterday I wake up with a sore throat and we have long standing date scheduled for that evening with a non-refundable hotel reservation. I call the lady of the couple to tell her about my illness. I was not sure if I had an allergy attack or cold but told her I wanted to be upfront about it. I was prepared to cover the cost of unused hotel. She says not to worry - let's stick with the plan.
So I'm getting worse through the day. Before leaving to meet, in addition to Viagra I pop an old style Actifed with the bad stuff in it that I got from Canada.
To make a long story short, let me tell you that Viagra is no match for Actifed. As she and I have had a great time in the past and she could see I really was sick she was very understanding. I muddled through using alternate means. I couldn't believe she wanted to continue and risk getting sick but that's her.
So it really was a cold vs. allergy and I can hardly breathe now. Based on my reading this morning, killing sex drive is a common side effect of antihistamines. If you are forced to play with a cold or allergy, just something to consider.

I don't know what you have, but I have had it for 3 days. Sex is the LAST thing on my mind right now! You are braver than I am. I would have cancelled for sure.

Agree, I should have.

Sorry to hear your feeling so bad.
I didn't know about this medicin effecting the sex drive.
Pretty cool of you to give some warning :)
I know that might not help the cold, but we hope you get to feeling better soon :)

Actifed with the bad stuff in it that I got from Canada.
Actually you got the good stuff, the 'new' stuff is just so they can't use it to make methamphetamine and in my medical opinion 'sucks ass'. I think if there was truth in advertising they should be forced to put 'sucks ass' on the cover of the boxes with the new formula.
That being said, well....ya.
You were sick AND took something which makes a lot of people drowsy.
Not a recipe for success.

Never read up on antihistamines affecting sex drive but as a lifetime allergy sufferer who eats antihistamines like candy I can say it isn't true for all. I would like to find something that could kill my drive...LOL.....When I get really sick from it though as it sounds you did , it is just the fact that I feel so bad that kills the mood just as anything that makes you feel bad. Also some antihistamines can make you sleepy which can be a mood killer also.

I'll add that until a few years ago I was constantly taking anti-histamines and let me tell you, they had ZERO effect on my sex drive.

antihistamines may not directly affect my sex drive, but it's hard to have sex when you fall asleep every 3 minutes.

I have had asthma and allergies my whole life. I am on a constant supply of antihistamine and I have not had any issues with my sex drive, this could just be do to my age 27. I know different medicines affect different people in different ways so I could just be an exception.

Another thing, what is up with needing to supply a licence to buy sudafed and with no more than two boxes at a time? I know people make Meth with it but they need alot of sudafed, not a couple boxes. And I don't look like I'm cooking drugs up.
The spouse's erections can be affected by Benadryl - about 70% of the time, it's just not going to happen. He's noticed little effect with any other standard over the counter allergy remedy.
I'm on Allegra-D, Flonase, Patanol and, for most of August, an Albuterol inhaler. I don't think the drugs affect my drive. I do think I have a harder time getting wet, unless I make sure I keep up with fluids. I think the Allegra dehydrates me. However, come August, when ragweed is predominant, the drugs aren't doing much to keep the symptoms under control, and I don't feel like sex. But that's the allergy symptoms, not the drugs, causing the issues.
