I wanted it to be a 'surprise', so I had not told her about the project here. Well, my package arrived while my friend was out of town for an extended time. I watch their home, bring in the mail, and generally keep an eye on things when they are gone - so I just left her cookbook [and the cookie bonus one ] near the sorted stacks of their mail. I am also their "airport limo". As per the usual routine, I picked them up - brought them to their home - helped unload their luggage - and hugged them adieu. They are always very glad to be home, but tired as their travel is mostly business related for them. So once I get them home - I leave. And after a couple of days recuperating - she gives me a call and we catch up. That time, I got a call the next day - - - "All right", she said, " I've identified EBF" [whom she has met ] - - "but who the hell are you?" I told her that she should be able to pick me out from knowing my recipes - - I didn't hear from her for another two days. She got so intrigued with some of the recipes she was reading - she and her hubby went out to the grocery to pick up ingredients - and they had been 'feasting'. And yes, she had finally found me, too! Which serves to remind me - - How about let's hear from some who have been utilizing the recipes - which ones have you tried - what did you think - and if you haven't tried one yet - do you have one in mind to try first? For those who weren't with us yet to be a part of the adventure - it's worth getting one in your hands - good eatin' ahead! Just click on the shopping link on the masthead - it'll take you to the swingersboard store where you can order one for yourself - and an extra one for a friend or two! WR ![]() |

Dontcha hate it when you get a cookbook that has NOTHING you'll want to try? I liked reading Sportsterguy's recipes (he uses words like "squooge" and lame-o). I have recipes marked to try soon. Thanks for the cookbook Aluras! |

I fixed Sweet and Sour Pork Chops [still counts - even if it was MY recipe - hubby'd never tasted it before! ] Sidedish: Sportsterguy's Broccoli and Noodles - pretty durned good. One just has to overcome [and interpret] the broadbrush descriptions of things - and the fact his particular ingredients aren't available in that size for some reason, or the brand name mentioned hasn't been heard of in this part of the country. But his instructions are amusing. Also fixed cole slaw, and made garlic bread sticks. Maybe not a feast fit for a king - but delicious never the less - or so sayeth MY king! [truth be told, I think he was in shock - as he normally does the cooking around here] I'm setting him up - - gonna spring an EBF pot roast on him next! [now, where's that bottle of the pink stuff? ] |
