A Reminder About Politics

I've seen a few "slips" in the realm of political comments lately. Please keep in mind that the one and ONLY topic that is off-limits on this site is Politics. We instituted this policy for a reason as we've seen the damaging affects of allowing those discussions on this site.

This is just a reminder. Political Comments will be deleted and infractions given. I know for some of you it's hard to "keep it in your pants" when it comes to politics, but please make an effort.

I am new to your excellent board, and not looking to rock the boat, but what if you allowed but segregated political postings? If people ventured into the political forum, they would do so at their own risk, much as those who venture into a sexual forum, having been given advance notice of adult content. And why should politics even be considered on a swingers board? Politics does make strange bedfellows!

This board did have a segregated political forum years ago. Julie's right to ban such discussions. The posts, of which I was a big part, were a bad thing that created a lot of animosity.

I was very much opposed to banning politics, arguing that an important part of making friends is understanding their political philosophies. I was dead wrong. This board is one of the friendliest ones on the net. That could not have been said when political discussions were allowed.

One of the first posts I read on this board was in the politics forum. It was "(screenname), you are an asshole!" That doesn't happen anymore.

Brad, of Brad and Janet on this board, came to the rescue by establishing "Brad's Place." Many of us go over there to talk politics. An interesting aspect of it is that Brad's Place has remained friendly. Come on over!

Swinging provides a way for people to get together, relate to each other and exchange information on this Board and it would be a shame if that process is hampered by political discussions and its related side issues.

I like how this forum has friendly people and everyone seems to get along and respect each other in spite of various differences of opinion about the lifestyle.

Reading through the forums leaves a positive impression. But if I started seeing animosity due to political differences, it would leave a negative impression. What a shame to wreck this board's great atmosphere just so a few people could let off political steam. It's not worth it!

There are plenty of political forums on the internet if that's what you're into. Thanks Julie... for keeping this place sane!

Mr. Alura is correct. There is no segregating politics, it will always overflow into other topics, whether the political comments themselves or the animosity created by those topics in their segregated forum. And as he pointed out, there is a place to go where you can discuss politics with other folks (including quite a few from this site). You just can't do it here.

So 20th- and 21st-century political discussions go to Brad's place, and discussions of political issues prior to 1900 go to the random attack thread.

Thanks so much for making the rule about no politics. God, I cannot tell you how many relationships have been trashed once the political crap entered the arena. I am new to your site but encouraged by this one rule alone. Hope to find a lot of what I am looking for here.
