Now Available. You will find a link on the nav bar to "Blogs". Check it out. You can now have your own blog right here on the Swingers Board. You can set it to private (only you view), friends only (create a buddy list if you don't already have one) or public (all view) and allow or disallow comments as well as screen comments prior to allowing them to be posted (if you choose). The blog control panel is available on the left from the main blog screen. Check it out and play around and feel free to leave any comments here.

Ummm....when you click on the Blog link from the main page, you get a 404 error ...thought you'd like to know...when you click on it anywhere else on the site, it works just fine.

I thought I would post this before someone asks. In case you haven't already discovered Buddy Lists and how they work here on the site:
We have Buddy Lists and Ignore Lists and you can add people to either one, doing so may help you when you set up your blog if you don't want to make it public for everyone to read it. You can add someone to your buddy list or ignore list from their profile page (you will see links along the top allowing you to do this).

You can also access these lists and add people directly by going to your User CP then on the left side scroll down and near the bottom you will see a link for "Buddy/Ignore Lists". From there you will see everyone already in either list and you can uncheck them to remove them, and you will see a textbox to enter the name of someone you want to add to either list.

Other uses for buddy lists are so that you can easily see when your friends are online, or easily send PMs to people you communicate with often. You can open your buddy list in a popup anytime by clicking on "Quick Links" on the navigation menu then "Open Buddy List". From that popup you can easily see which of your buddies are online and/or send a PM to one or more of your buddies.

I think this will be a fun addition. Even though I don't anticipate starting a blog, I would like to read member's blogs now and then.

The blog page looks nice and all the options are great.

Oh, BTW, the blogs will not be held to the same rules as the board. You can blog whatever you want political or otherwise. These are your private pages to do with whatever you want. The only rule I will make is that if your blog is publicly viewable (not just friends only) that you do not post any explicit sex pics (this is to keep me out of trouble).

I just noticed that included in the stats on every person's post is now a place for their Blog to be mentioned. That's a good idea. If I like a particular post and want to learn more about that member, I can open their Blog right there from their post.

I wonder if it would be possible to include next to the word "Blogs" the total blogs there are? This would be a growing number that could be in parenthesis and would be updated automatically when a new blog is started. This would also let everyone know how many bloggers the Board has.

With a quick glance from the forum page, I can note if the number is still (4) or if more blogs have been started since the last time I logged on. This way I would know instantly, without having to open the blog page and search for what is new. Over time, as the list grows it will become a long list to read on the Blog page just to see if new blogs have been started.

I may be overthinking this - it's natural for me to do - and it may not be doable or practical, but I'm throwing it out there for thought or discussion.

I think that could get a little too much should the blogs really take off and grow a lot. You can just open the blog page and the newest blogs are listed first (right under the random blog). You can also see right from the blog page the total number of blogs, blog posts and comments (so while it's not on every page, it is just a click away).

Another little tip that might be helpful. You can view a list of all of the public blogs by clicking the link next to "total blogs" on the blog main page (the number is listed there and linked to the page that will show you all the individual blogs). From there you can see how many posts each blog has and how many comments as well as visit that users blog.

if there is a user whose blog you want to read on a regular basis you can subscribe to that blog using the "subscribe to this blog" link located on the bottom right of any blog entry (last icon in the list), or from the users main blog page by clicking the link that says "subscribe to this blog" on the left side.

After I posted I realized my suggestion wasn't practical.

Someday, we won't be limited to dial-up anymore and everything will go so much faster. Clicking open different pages will be as fast as lightening!
