This is looking to be one of the (if not the) worst natural disasters in the history of the United States. We have many friends and members of the Swingers Board in the affected areas, some of whom we still have not heard from. Many major corporations are doing matching on any monetary donations given, please take some time out of your day to stop by one of your local stores to donate. Stores that I am aware are doing this are Lowes and Best Buy. If you know of others please add them in reply to this thread. Of course, there are many great charitable organizations reaching out to help and you can always donate online directly to those at: Red Cross Americares and I'm sure many others. The Swingers Board has already donated $2500 through the Red Cross, and I will pledge to match the donations of any Swingers Board members who donate online (or off) and forward me their receipt (up to an additional $2500). At times like this, we have to do what we can to help each other, you never know when it might be you that needs the help. Last edited by JustAskJulie : 09-07-2005 at 11:05 PM. Barry will do the same thing….up to another $50,000 That makes one dollar become three dollars and The Manilow Fund contributes 100% of every dollar raised. There are zero charges for administration, etc. Just another way to get involved if you feel the need. Good Job Julie! |

My God, I could barely work today for thinking about all those people, the stench, the rapes, the crime, the floating bodies, grown men crying on tv. And yet the stupidity born from frustration of the snipers taking pot shots at rescue workers and hospitals. Now Houston is at it's capacity at their domed stadium, so now they're headed for Dallas, and other Texas towns. "X" Swinger Last edited by JustAskJulie : 09-02-2005 at 03:03 AM. The more we can give the better. This is an event that will effect the entire country eventually, if not already. |

It's not Indonesia, not Africa, not Bangladesh, but the US. The most powerful and prosperous nation in the world. The coming weeks and months will be a litmus test for this nation. The world is watching. |

The Swingers Board will match any donations made by Swingers Board members/friends up to $2500. In order to do so, I need a forwarded copy of your receipt of donation. All donations will be listed here as well as we will track what the members have given, hopefully over and above the match. Forward any donation reciepts to julie@swingersboard.com |

Here I was thinking no one wanted to help, and what was really going on was that my spam filters had misdirected the forwards. Luckily, I don't clean out my spam file but like once a month (just in case). So, an update. So far our Swingers Board members have (let me know that they have) donated $1025 to the Red Cross in an effort to help those affected by Hurricane Katrina! Keep those donations coming in and we will keep matching them. Thank you JennandJamesinms and WildMICouple Last edited by JustAskJulie : 09-17-2005 at 12:57 PM. |

I know that many of you have donated in other ways, whether dropping off a donation at your local office or through one of the many Big Box stores that were doing matching and that is great. For the rest of you, remember it doesn't take much... $5 or $10 even, that's barely even lunch for most of us but it's also a case or two of water for people who really need it right now. With so many active people on this site, all we need is 50 people/couples to donate $10 each and we will have more than met our goal of $2500, which is all the better. And if you are someone who just has to get something from your giving (nothing wrong with that) then you can always buy a Swingers Board Cookbook, and those proceeds will also be passed on to the Red Cross. |

The Swingers Board will be sending a matching donation to one of the Relieft Funds. We are also continuing with our efforts to raise money by selling the Swingers Board Cookbooks at a clearance price. Money raised through this effort will be donated directly to individuals/ families that we have been made aware are in need following these recent events. |
