Unhappy yeast infections

ok, i know this isn't the sexiest topic in the world but i need some advice.

my SO seems to be having alot of trouble getting rid of her yeast infections. she has tried everything (change in diet, many many doctors visits, internet research, etc.) and nothing seems to work. we're interested in seeking some homopathic remedies. i was hoping that someone might have some information to pass on. a good website or book or anything? she's had them for a very long time and they make her miserable. i don't like her feeling like this.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

Yogurt , eating and using it as a douche will definitely help. Staying away from sugar and foods that turn to sugar is good. Also, it's possible that you two are passing the infection back and forth to each other...Yes, men can and do get yeast infections. While she is treating herself, either with a prescription drug or an over-the-counter medication, you should also be treating yourself. Miconazole nitrate cream (can be purchased over-the-counter) applied to the penis will usually take care of an infection for a male. Also, lots of air...walking around naked is always a good thing.

so is it possible for me to have a yeast infection and not know it? it seems like i would. hmmm...

also, she's tried the yogurt remedies (as well as garlic, boric acid, etc.) and she's cut almost all the sugar out of her diet. she's been taking this stuff called candex (sp?) and it seems to help. she says that it doesn't knock it out completely, it just keeps it at bay. she feels likes shes always on the verge of getting another infection.

thanks for the imput.head bang

My wife used to have this problem, then one day I read about a study that was done in europe that involved the premiss that all that area of the female anatomy needed to resist infections of this type was more fresh air circulation. the recomendation of the study was not to wear underwear and tight fitting clothing for better air circulation to the area. It's been about 10 years since I read about this and I don't remember where I found it but I mentioned it to my wife and she decided to give it a try. She hasen't worn any underwear since, she wears mostly shorts or skirts, slacks or jeans only occasionally and has had no infections since except when she uses antibiotics. I don't know if this would work for everybody but it seems to have worked for her.

Ohhh...I had this little itch the last couple of years with Slutty Husband and could not figure it out for the life of me!

The discovery was finally made when I was with Sir Mike fulltime.

Does your man drink beer and then go to town on you?

Unbeknownst to me, Slutty Husband #1 would have a couple of beers with the boys at work before heading home and would chew on a big wad of Cinnamon stick gum to mask the scent.

My Knight isn't a beer drinker so magickally the itching stopped.

Later my suspicions were confirmed when I ran into a FAQ about
recurring yeast infections, cunnilingus and beer drinking.

I'll post the link here when I find it.

Good luck to you.
soapbox Wash carefully and think about going pantiless
under your Summer dresses and sleeping nude.
All help, believe it or not.

Mwah ;-*

Yes, men can harvest the yeast causing bacteria and not know it. In my child bearing years, I was repeatedly in and out of the doctors office suffering the symptoms. I'd say probably 6 or 7 times a year. After a couple of years of repeated treatments, my ex was given a script (don't recall what it was now, it was 20 some odd years ago) at the same time I was. I never suffered the problem again. But then I did leave him shortly there after for reasons above and beyond his cheating ways. For all I know he could have been the one bringing it home to me.

Point is, he never had symptoms and we were together for at least another 8 months after he took the prescribed medication and we did engage in sex. I stayed yeast infected free and haven't had one since.

You say you've tried yogurt but consider using home made yogurt. Yogurt cultures only live about 10 days and by the time they reach your local supermarket most of the "good stuff" is dead. I eat homemade yogurt everyday for my intestinal problems and it's not hard to make. You can buy a yogurt machine on line for about $50.00.

Most of the above is right on target. People with chronic yeast infections should wear cotton panties and panty hose with a cotton crotch. Also, think medications. Does she take antibiotics on a frequent basis? One of the most common culprits.
Has she been checked for diabetes? Is she on birth control pills?

Have her keep a diary of all that she eats, activities...everything...and try to correlate to the onset of a yeast infection. She may be able to pin down the cause that way.

Do not douche and especially with those fragrance things. Destroys the normal flora in the vagina. And finally, see her doctor for actual testing. We often think we have a common yeast infection when it is something else. There are some new strains out there that are resistant to the common over-the-counter creams. - EBF

Default recurrent infections

When I first with my Man I developed a couple of things....a raging yeast infection and a severe UTI. Went to the gyne guy and he blamed it on Hubby (then my boyfriend)---treated hubby--the problem went bye bye. Of course I was on antibiotics for two months to take care of the UTI.

Remember men get what my hubby affectionately calls jungle rot...simply a yeast infection on the skin around the scrotum and penis. Is it always detectable???? NO!!!!

Men who are not circumsized can harbor the little yeasties under the foreskin...

Finally...recurrent infections need to be checked out...they could herald something more serious. If they don't go away I'd be a squeaky wheel and ask the gyne to do some tests.

Dito Dito what EBF said about cotton panties...breathable and what Sluttywife said about sleeping naked...and washing AND drying carefully. Go pantiless!

Hope this helps!

Dear Zgirl...I forgot about Slutty Husband #1 being uncircumcised!
That certainly could have been a factor.

We should start a "go pantiless" campaign.
I only wear them one week a month...moontime!

I'm with you there! I wear underwear because I have something in my anatomy that is prominent and causes wild things to happen if I don't wear underwear I wear cotton panties...however...at night...OFF they come!

Men who are uncircumsized can cause many problems for women...leading problem is constant irritation to the cervix. Many gyne's subscribe to the theory that uncircumsized men cause cervical cancer in their ladies due to the constant cervical irritation.

wow, thanks everyone for the feedback. i'm going to try some of the over the counter cream for myself that TNT mentioned. she is on a few different medications and has told me how this has a lot to do with it. she's on antibiotics for her skin and she's on the pill. also, she's been wearing cotton panties exclusively for a while now.

i'm sure she'll appreciate all of your imput. thanks!

There you have it. I'd bet a dime to a doughnut that is the problem. Still, I'd strongly recommend she see a good gynecologist to discuss the problem. There may be some type of medication he/she can recommend to keep the normal flora more balanced and also, she wants to be absolutely certain it is nothing more than a yeast infection. Unfortunately, she may be fighting a losing battle. Antibiotics and birth control pills can be murder (literally!) on the normal flora.

yeah, we've discussed the birthcontrol issue. i guess it might be time to go back to the condoms. unfortunately, i'm allergic to latex. oh well, either she suffers or i do...

i think the doctors that she's been going to have pretty much given up on her and made her feel like that she just had to deal with it. there was nothing that they could do. personally, i don't buy that. i mean, i agree that some women or probably more prone to it than others but still... give a girl some hope.

i don't want her to be miserable anymore.

anyway, we'll look for some new doctors. we don't have insurance so it's going to be a task. wish us luck!
