Ok, I've always known I need braces... but now I'm seriously considering it due to more than just the crooked teeth. Of course the ortho put it in a way that leaves me asking "but do I really need them?" and of course I don't qualify for invisilign so I have to get the real things rubberbands and all.... So I'm asking for thoughts and advice from other adults out there who have gone this route. Was it worth it? Did it hurt? Did you get funny looks? What was it like REALLY!? |

SLS Name:Spoomonkey | I am going to reiterate something that I have shared a hundred times already, but just as some guys always answer the same fetish threads, I guess it is okay... I think adult women with braces are way hot! Spoomonkey PS - Not helpful, but slightly topical ![]()

She is 42 and she is trilled by the results. I too have been thinking about it. She said once you get use to it, it is like they arn't even really there. Let me just say, she was beautiful before, during, but exspecially after the braces. She use to cover her smile, but now we can't stop her from smiling. but then again we don't try too hard to stop her. I'd say if you want strait teeth do it. The longer you wait, the longer it will take to get your dream smile. Your friend, Prettylady ![]()

| insert witty banter here | Just this weekend Mr. Fun and I were at Home Depot, and the lady helping us looked to be 35-45. She had braces. And I thought, "good for her!" Mr. Fun thought, "what a cutie pie!" ![]() I had braces as a teenager, and my bottom teeth have shifted over the years. I've thought about getting braces on my bottom teeth again, but I haven't made up my mind yet. I know I spent more money on my son's braces than I did several cars that I've owned through the years ... hahahaha! But WELL worth it! |

| Here to Stay Join Date: Jul 2006 Posts: 30 Location: West suburbs, IL Status: married couple / male | My wife got braces couple of years ago. She is almost due to have them removed in a few months. She was worried too, but people (mostly men) either did not seem to care or used it as an ice breaker to talk to her. I don't think you have anything to worry about. In regards to "did it hurt" part of the question, it was bothersome at times when they change the spring or make adjustments, it took her a few days to get comfortable again. There is also the BJ problem of having braces. She was not comfortable doing that for a while, as she was afraid that she'd hurt me (she had them on both jaws). |

I've never had braces but am about one week into a 5 week dental repair of an injury I received 31 years ago. It's worth it already as my jaw lines up, no more teeth grinding at night. It might be worth it just for the side effects like that.

I had braces in my late teens, I paid for them myself as my parents did not have the resources. Well, I needed a tune up last year with braces for nine months. I learned that adults with braces are no longer uncommon. Tom Cruise even had it done. And, while people may pause when they notice the first time, what happened was I got more questions about it from people also considering braces than anything else. And what's more important is that the time passed quickly, without much discomfort and I preserved a great smile. You have nothing to worry about Julie and I hope you go forward. Also, if it ever becomes overwhelming, you can have them removed and say you at least tried. But seriously, you'll look bakc and wonder why you didn't do it sooner. Be wll. |

Today I had the spacers installed in my back teeth. The actual braces go on in about 2 weeks. The dental assistant that put the spacers in said the pain / discomfort wouldn't really kick in until tomorrow. If that's the case I'm in trouble... because it's pretty uncomfortable already. I took a hydrocodone in hopes of at least falling asleep... that was 3 hours ago (on the upside it did help the pain). I discovered it's rather hard to chew when your molars don't actually touch. |

| Julie's Helper | Thats great to hear in a way Julie because personal improvement shows people you not only care about others, but we care about ourselves as well. Heres to a happy smile ![]() Sorry to hear about the pain and discomfort though. Maybe sharing the facts and truth about this will encourage others.

It's been progressively easier since then. I had my braces 25 years ago. I don't even remember the pain. Mr. FC4L |
