I don't think they would be strong enough for playtime, but also have no first hand experience with them either. Thoughts, good or bad ,are welcomed as are recomendations of good ones to buy or stay away from. Thanks Sam n Stormy |

Common sense dictates that, like most things, an airbed that only costs a few dollars will probably deflate if you look at it sternly, let alone hammer it with someone's buttocks. Something that costs a little more and has been designed from the outset for more than just occasional use (a bed made from some sort of rubberised fabric, for instance) will probably suffice for playtime as well as bedtime. And finally, I'll just say this: be careful using them at sea with an offshore breeze when the tide's ebbing. Last edited by Brit_Pair : 05-02-2004 at 02:07 PM. |

Status: couple | Thanks Brit_Pair, when you put it like that, I think we will just use them for sleeping, we have broke a few beds in our day, I doubt they would hold up for serious play As for using them near the sea, hmmmm, we have a little fantasy that involves a rubber raft, a full moon, and a lake ![]() |

Now it does nicely for both play times and sleeping times...although the wet spots on air mattresses are a little more tricky to navigate ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!! LOL

We prefer sofas, chaise lounge, rockers and even our deck chairs outside LOL...provided the moon isn't out and all the neighbours aren't watching from their windows...hee...hee... Some of our Vancouver friends came over the other day with a couple of reall Japanese futons. Magickal! Firm and comfy to say the least! If you layer them on top of each other you have a pretty cushy mattress that feels more like a sturdy, strong featherbed! Nice.... ;-*

We have used them for two years at convention with over 300 people a night coming to our suite parites and I have seen as many as 8 people on the queen size one we got. If you get good ones, fill them up with LOTS OF AIR so that your butt don't hit the floor they are great to party on. We set up one at our smaller house parties and it seems to be the main party point in the house all the time so someone must like it. We have found that you really do get what you pay for when buying air beds. Ours do have a foot pump on them that can wear you out so the next ones we buy are going to have elec. pumps on them to save my feet and legs. |

| Posts: n/a | I purchased an Eddie Bauer self inflating air bed (paid quite a bit) and thought I was getting quality, but was sorely disapointed. I would not recommend this one. However, I've heard there WONDERFUL ones out there, and would not be opposed to using one! ![]() |

Queen Size air bed with built-in foot pump. Made by Ozark Trail. Not the most expensive on the market but has worked great for all the parties we have used them at. Was not real cheap either but we don't remember the exact cost. |

| Swingers Board Addict | The Ozark Trail and Coleman beds were made to be used outside on the ground, so they are stronger than most and handle "abuse" better. I bought an Ozark Trail full size velour top air mattress when I moved to Detroit. I hooked up with a cute female cop who was disappointed two weeks later when I got a regular bed and didn't have the airmattress on the floor anymore. Luckily I had two bedrooms and the other was still empty so...

| Swingers Board Addict | Don't get the simple vinyl mattresses or the inflatable beds with built in frame if you intend to use them for playtime. The frames have no consistent support and the vinyl mattresses will develop leaks if you over inflate them or put too much pressure in one spot.

I think the ones in the camping section will be the way to go, they can serve double duty, at home for play or guests and they will be durable enough to take camping too. Which also includes play and guests sometimes ![]() |

We own a coleman queen size and it has a felt top to it so you don't get the slick plastic feeling if the sheet came off. Since we are both some what on the heavy side . We can fill it up whne we are cmaping and sleep on it for three days untill it need smore air, unless it was hot and humid during the day. Just my two cents. Thanks bridget
