They inflate fast, dress up well, and deflate before the kids get home. I'd hoped the trundle bed would work out, but is more of a pain than it is worth. Several of our guests have risked serious injury when the trundle popped apart from the twin bed. -- Bunny |

| Flying solo Join Date: Sep 2003 Posts: 559 Location: Austin Status: single | We've got a dedicated guest bedroom, a giant bed and space on the floor at the foot of our bed for an aerobed. We also have an ample supply of pillows, blankets, sheets and thick luxury hotel quality towels, and a big basket full of guest soap, shampoos, bubble bath bombs and oils Sleeping space is still an issue in our small space so we'reseriously considering replacing our papasans with a couple of sofa beds, though. Still never feels like enough...it's nice to be able to entertain like minds, though. It's a whole other thing when family rolls into town and we have to find hiding places for our swinging books, adult webmaster mags, etc. etc. The best way we've found to keep guests most comfortable is to really adhere by the "mi casa su casa" thing so there's nothing to ever "look after." We store all the valuables and sensitive docs at our office or down at the bank where they belong and employ live-in housesitters/dogsitters when we're out of town. Keeping the fridge stocked with ready to eat foods like a platter of crudites, jars of pickles and olives, cheese, fruit, wine and water is a big timesaver and also allows for us to spend time enjoying our friends. There you have it...some Slutty sleepover tips... Mwah! ;-* Slutty Wife

| Your Hostess Join Date: Nov 2002 Posts: 22,248 Location: Alabama Status: Female SLS Name:swingersboard Blog Entries: 59 | Inflatable beds are a huge help. Lots of extra pillows and blankets. Extra toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, razors, etc, for the forgetful ones or the ones who just hadn't planned on spending the night. As a host I am definately a "make yourself at home" type. I show you where it is once (if you are lucky...lol) and the rest is up to you. I remember I stayed at one friends home a couple of years ago and every time I made a move they jumped up. Instead of just telling me where the towels were they had to get up and get them for me. It made me very uncomfortable. |

We did not start swinging yet but our vanilla friends are always hanging out at our place. I love to cook dinner or to prepare small things to eat and drink. I do not have a lot of stress when hosting, but I think hosting a swingparty is different. We have a very big livingroom, but we should choose new curtains for one part of it, because now these are see-through.... I think I would put all the food, drinks and other things like towels etc all in one corner of the room so everybody knows where to find it.

| Flying solo Join Date: Sep 2003 Posts: 559 Location: Austin Status: single | To answer your question directly Julie, I'm of the "help yourself" variety. But we tend to get abit lavish stocking up. A visit to our casita will give one a good idea of La Vida Slutty..."live and love..or is it love and live? and our guests almost always ring us up and say "we didn't want to leave." LOL How kewl is that? Want to know how to make your guests feel truly at ease and at home away from home? Do as we do...do some last minute shopping and prep the house for their arrival bringing everything special out for their enjoyment. Then tell them that the only way they can stay with you is to adopt our "mi casa su casa" attitude...so basically the house is theirs to come and go or "cum and stay" (with certain friends anyway..wink, wink...) as they wish..and of course they are welcome to help...clean up, take the gods (dogs) out for a walk, etc. etc. Now how to make a guest feel like a special guest! We pick flowers from our garden or go out and buy a few bunches and fill the vases throughout the house. We put our ratty old towels away, and make sure all the great, new fluffy ones are outnumbering our faves. We allow guests easy access to our cd, video and book collections. We stock our fridge with wine, soda, juice, champagne and all sorts of yummy fix-it-yourself edibles like cheeses, spreads, salad kits and fruit. Lots of ice and three half gallons of ice cream, frozen, sliceable cookie dough, a lasagna or eggplant parmesan, frozen hors d'oevres are always on hand and can cover just about anything unplanned. We light candles when it gets dark. We serve the best croissants we can find and Godiva coffee, cocoa, juice, jars of good breakfast cereal, jams and marmalades and free range eggs...the staples to make just about any memorable breakfast that will keep them from getting hungry in a couple of hours. We would crawl under the house and die if we didn't take the time to put cake or pie on the table, either. Tips: Place things where guests will be able to find them. Remind them that they have free access to just about anything without a lock on it. Ask them in advance about a favourite food and take care to get it for them. Spend time relaxing and enjoying their company! Generally cos we're so laissez faire about things, we don't feel much pressure at all but to do a little shopping a few days before and clean up some. Of course we schedule it in. ;-*

| Active Member | Well when someone comes to our house to play it is always a stayover sometimes extending into 2 days That means every weekend! Before they come the first time we ask what they like to eat and drink. Once at our home we show them where everyting is tell them you are no longer guests but family and help yourself. We have found that letting them help to clean up after dinner or breakfast makes them really feel at home and the mrs really appreciates the help. One couples Husband is an excellent cook and loves to cook so he is the official Breakfast cook!!! Using this method has worked well. BY the second visit they can walk in make themselves at home and let the fun begin. |
