Default Designing your dream play house

Back in k'02, Chilluns, our leader, Just Ask Julie, asked us how we'd design our dream Swingers' Resort. That thread is located here: http://www.swingersboard.com/forums/...ingers%27+Club. It's a fun thread that could use some additions. Be creative!

Mrs. Alura and I were talking earlier today (while watching the Home and Gardens Channel, something we do far too much...) about how we might remodel our house after the boys have moved out to make our private play pen, since we aren't clubbers and would rather swing with one or two couples who are good friends. We haven't settled on a design yet, are talking that over and preparing our post.

So, how would y'all remodel your place (or would you do new construction?) to make the ultimate pleasure den?

Our tiny place is perfect for the two of us - but anytime we have folks visit we are forced to accept the fact that our little love shack will never be the pleasure palace that we'd want...

We have actually talked about this and when we were looking at buying a larger home (last Summer) a lot of the consideration was the large "finish-able" basement that would be a part of the home. Swinging is only a part of our life, so it wouldn't be the case of putting up a love swing in the living room or replacing conversational seating with liborator wedges... But having a quickly convertable area of the basement for playmates and possible parties would be wonderful!

We thought of carefully designing a wall that - while not easily visible as such was actually a large door that would connect a rather vanilla area of the basement (complete with those deceptively handy "air chairs" and comfy couches) with a larger room that would contain some play beds and other toys. The amount of space would have been enough for a rather large party...

But - priorities did not allow for the purchase of that particular home - but we do still dream

Oh my goodness... Ted and I have been remodeling our house since the day we moved in Of course, this was to make it more comfortable for the children.

For the past few years we have been counting the days down until the last one leaves the nest and we can remodel for us Less than four years to go. I love talking about my remodeling projects (Ted cringes as all he sees is dollar signs, ) so since you asked here we go....

Our house is U shaped (think more squared U... l_l )...with the left side of the U being our bedroom and bath (which we just finished remodeling, okay I still have trim work to complete but it's getting there ), the bottom of the U has two bedrooms, bath, library/office, living room, dinning room, den and kitchen, the right side has two bedrooms, laundry room and bath...in the center of the U is my pride and joy...my courtyard. It's not as fancy as it sounds, it's an old house but it suits us nicely. We both love it and it holds extreme sentimental value to me as it was my grandparents house.

We are planning on starting the major remodel job once the third one moves out, as that wing of the house will no longer have anyone living in it...walls will be knocked down, and the laundry room relocated so the game room can be brought to life which will include a pool table and bar area. There will definitely be some very comfy couches in there as well, not to mention the killer sound system.

Stage two will start when the fourth one moves out and will consist of a wall being knocked down in the living room area to make it bigger, French doors put in that will lead out to the courtyard area, which will be decked and roofed, with a much larger hot tub than the one we have now...during stage two the kitchen, den and dinning area will also have a bit of remodeling to open them up so traffic flow will be easier (the kitchen, den and dinning room may actually be moved to stage one as our family keeps growing and I need more room in those areas now ).

After all of that I think I might have all the remodeling done I want to do...what was once a five bedroom house will be turned into a two bedroom ...We figure this way once all the kids rooms are gone they won't be able to move back in The one spare room left will of course be for the grand-baby to come and stay as well as any overnight guests we have.

Yep, we're definitely counting the days down until party central can be opened .

A natural stone garden bath and glass-block shower for two. No curtains or shower doors, just a stone-grotto that's open on top to the ceiling, and fully visible from the master bedroom when the double-doors leading towards the garden bath are open. And an artists loft on the top floor that opens down into that bedroom. Again, no doors or windows, just a rail to keep anybody up in the loft from falling in on you. The opening serves as a balcony that looks directly down upon the bed, and anybody who might be engaged there.

I have a friend that has all of these features, and many others that would make it the ideal swingers haven, in her custom built home. I suspect that the couple who originally commissioned it's design and construction may have enjoyed hosting some non-traditional parties in it before she bought it from them a few years ago.

It's currently on the market in the Cincinnati area for $975,000, in case anybody's interested...

Actually I saw a house in Mexico that was similar to JnCCs description, at the time I thought..."boy would I love to have this house all to myself for one night...or a week".

My ideas would be 1) plenty of mirrors in good spots (but not like a house of mirrors that you would get dizzy and fall down) 2) some room with a squishy floor that you could hose off and do oil wrestling :p

Mr. and I have been drooling over the possibilities for our (currently occupied) in-law suite. If we ever got that space back, it would make an awesome playroom. It's a basement apartment with a small 3 pc. bathroom and small kitchen, plenty of windows and a walk-out to a really big back yard. Turn the kitchen into a bar, add a pool table, one or two beds (that you can push together), a sectional sofa, fireplace and a nice thick fur rug to put in front of said fireplace and you've got yourself a dandy play area. Also, we're hoping to invest in our back yard, too. Outdoor kitchen, inground pool, sauna, and of course what swinger's pad would be complete without the standard 6-8 person hot tub? We'll just have to make sure to put up some privacy lattice around the hot tub.

I'd be the last guy you'd want to help with the remodeling construction, but let me know when you get to the point that walls need to be painted.

P.S. You folks don't wear clothes when you're painting, do you? I try not to...I find that they get in the way of cleanup...

We just bought a 2800 sf single story on a half acre that we are partially converting to an office/classroom/sample room for my business and my wife's business (I'm a Firearms Instructor, she's an Interior Designer).

We have a large kitchen/living area that we've designated the "No Work Area", and have two large empty rooms that we are considering making into guest rooms for family and friends when they come to visit.

We just had our first party there, a wine tasting party for friends, employees, and business associates. It was a rousing success.

After everyone had left, we were sitting in the back yard, having a glass of wine, when the discussion turned to having small parties for our Lifestyle friends. We both think it's very doable, and will start working out the details.

We'll let you know how it turns out.

I like spoomonkey's idea of a secret room. I envision a statue of a monkey and pulling the tail makes a wall spin around. Now that I think about it. Walking into his house and seeing statues of monkeys would be pretty funny in itself.

The courtyard idea is very cool. Having a hot tub that no one could see is very cool and now is on my wish list. I think finding a square house might be problamatic, so maybe I can find a house that with some remodelling could become that.

Our backyard is already fairly "swinger friendly." We have a lot of trees and shrubs that form secluded places here and there. There's a spa and a pool. We've always had a great time playing there.

Our house is two-story plus attic. The master bedroom/bath is at one end. Directly above is a large bedroom/closet. The peak of the roof covers attic storage.

The basic idea is to connect all three areas with a winding staircase. The lower floor would become a sitting room/bath room. The second would be our bedroom and another, plusher, bathroom designed more for play than getting clean. The attic space would be just right for a den for two or three couples to play. We'd like to have a glass roof and perhaps a roof-top deck, accessable from the den.

That is an awesome idea! Don't mind if I "co-opt" it do you?

Statues? No... But stuffed monkeys, monkey shirts, monkey pop art, Mrs Spoo actually has a monkey on her desk - one of those "Ty Beanine" things that come with a name and a little poem... The name? You guessed it - "Swinger".

I think it is hilarious that she has that on her desk...

Of course not. Now to take it a step further put a voice recorder in it so when you pull the tail, the wall spins and it says, "Let the fun begin! ooh-ooh! aah-aah!"
