Stripper Poles

and a great idea for those who are hosting house parties, even just small gatherings among friends.

I have always been enthralled with the pole dancers at strip clubs - some are just amazing. Of course, many of the clubs we've been to have poles, but mostly they go unused except for a couple of either embaressingly drunk women (or men LOL) or a couple of women who look like they probably dance professionally.

Well, last year in Jamaica at Hedo, we had some "private" pole dancing lessons from one of the staff members. It was so much fun because no one else was in the disco so the small group that was there didn't feel inhibited.

After we got back home and went to a local convention where there was another pole and I was brave enough to try it publicly, I decided I had to have my own portable pole.

Well, we found a couple of poles that are very easy to put up and take down. My personal favorites are these two:

I have the first one...and as of now, the second one isn't stocked in the US so all their shipments are about $120 to the US but they hope to rectify that soon. Both are great poles and have many features that make them much better than others on the market.

We've had friends over a few times and had the pole out and it's been a great time with the ladies trying out dances and tricks and showing each other how to do new tricks.

I'm actually considering a position teaching now but this is a lot of fun and probably a good idea even if you don't have parties but just want something different once in a while to spice things up at home.

That is some pretty cool stuff! You know, in all our years of marriage and even during our years swinging, I have never been to a strip club. I have never seen a professional exotic dancer perform. The 2 minute clip from one of the instructional videos is the only footage I've ever seen of it. Apparently there is a strip club here in Kingston, but I haven't heard good things about it, so we've never gone. But I'm wondering if we shouldn't see if there are any local professional dancers who would be interested in doing some classes? I'll have to drop in to Cynthia's (sex shop). I get the idea that she has a finger on the pulse of the local exotic dance scene. See what I can drum up. It sure looks like fun!!

My two problems: 1) I have NOwhere to put a pole in my house. Not enough room. And, 2) I think I'll have to slim down a couple of dress sizes before I'm brave enough to try any of those inversions. "Now, tell me again [Mr. intuition]...exactly what was your wife doing when she sustained the head injury?" Uhhh..... Right.

Well, I can tell you no matter what your size or workout routine, inversions are tough. I finally got upside down for one of them then slid down the pole and thought I broke my shoulder! I guess they are serious when they say don't try those without a spotter!

The great thing about the removable poles is that you can slide your cocktail table out of the way and put it up in the living room or even in the kitchen, then take it down when you are done with it.

The lessons are a good idea - it's so different when you have someone show you in person as opposed to the videos. If you can go to a strip club it's always a fun night out, especially if you are bi or at least can enjoy watching pretty women dance, but be sure to go to one that is either couples or woman friendly. Also some are seedy and the dancers just aren't that good - but there are some really nice clubs with classy dancers in some areas.

I was in a strip joint a few weeks ago (don't ask) and the girl dancing climbed the pole all the way to the top before sliding down inverted. I gave her a dollar just for that!

Although I've never seen pole dancing up close and personal, Mr. intuition was at one time something of a connoisseur. He said some of the classier places - Ottawa has one that has attendants in tuxedos - have some amazing performers. One girl apparently could climb the pole using nothing but her legs. How the hell is this possible?

Pole dancing is on the list, but you have to work up to her level three class to get it. It is fun and it's one hell of a workout. Plus the two play partners we've tried it out on really like it.
