Dinner with Friends

We're putting together a dinner with "web friends". Or should we say, we have them doing a lot of the ideas/input, while we try to keep the ideas together for everyone.

Currently, we have about 7-10 couples (all local) wanting to attend. We've set guidelines up.
#1 NO SEX!
#2 Have fun and dinner
#3 Let's get to know each other a bit better, just for the hell of it. Since we do have some things in common, other than sex.

Only a few of us have actually met. And, many of us/them have really screwed up work schedules, that do not allow time for weekend playing. Which is why we thought of the idea to begin with, just for those folks.

Has anyone here done something like this? And, how did it go if you did?

We're not looking for "hook-up" stories. Just a clue of whether or not this is a good/bad idea.

I think it sounds like a wonderful idea! A nice way for folks to meet and get to know one another.

We have the same problem with schedules, there are about 4 couples we have been talking to who we would love to set up a time to meet with, but scheduling it has been hard. It would be so much easier to all meet at one time!

I've played with some nice folks (couples) in PA over the years who have a nice custom of having a twice-monthly "happy hour" consisting of 4 - 8 couples meeting at a local restaurant / lounge for generally "non-play" evenings midweek. It seems to be a pleasant and erotically edgy evening, and whether or not play results, everyone seems to agree that the concept is good. One couple seems to declare the schedule and venue, and coordinate the crowd size. I attend as a SM, and they're careful to keep that mix "just right" according to the tastes and expectations of the others (whom, by definition, they know). Again, very cool arrangement, although it seems to me to be a major effort by the organizing couple, for which everyone's grateful.

Sounds interesting. This may or may not turn into a monthly event. But, we're trying to allow some of our weekend workers a chance to meet other couples that they normally would not have time to meet. Everyone involved is a member of a private BBS for local swingers. Every member has been refered by another couple. So it's a very tight bunch...and couples only.

Right now, the only single that will be attending, is the wife of one couple. Who's hubby just happens to be out of town for the next couple of months. Before anyone jumps on that idea, we know them both, and it's okay...since we're only doing "dinner".
