 Penis size...is it really that important??

let me introduce myself first, I am a 31 year old, happily married woman, my husband is 35 and we started swinging about 3 years ago. We have met couples, had a 3-some (mfm) and also "fly solo" so to say.
Lately something has been really bothering my husband, and that is the size of his penis. He is about 5 1/2in erect, and he is getting a real inferiority complex about that, to the point that at our last mfm he had problems keeping it hard, because the other guy was about 8in.
I have to say that my husband is a wonderful lover, he has never left me unsatisfied in any way, and none of the women he's ever been with complaint, but well...you know how men can be!
I have recently started chatting with a guy who is quite big, he would love to get with me, but also have a 3-some or 4-some with my husband involved...he absolutely refuses. He says he has no problem with me meeting up with the guy, but is this really such a big ego thing for men?
Of course I won't force him to do anything he wouldnt' be comfortable with, but is there anything else I can do to make him feel better?
Maybe some of you out there (guys and gals) could write some words of encouragement for him, that he is not the only one who isn't a stallion?
Well, reading through this babbeling I don't know what you could actually tell me! lol
