Here in the UK, it's nothing but softcore.
Over here, satellite and cable TV is pretty well in the hands of one organisation (Rupert Murdoch and his SKY empire) so all adult material can be rigorously monitored, and infringements ruthlessly enforced by the government. That said, it's possible (if you choose to purchase your own motorised satellite dish, LNB and decoder) to tune into some of the hardcore adult channels being beamed to mainland Europe. But as soon as the government becomes aware of their presence and availability here, it takes action to make the sale of the decoder cards necessary to decrypt the channels illegal. Hardcore television is still very much a black market enterprise for potential UK viewers.
Even the importation of vanilla hardcore (i.e. heterosexual sex between consenting adults with no pain or other aberrations) on VHS or DVD is illegal. If the custom boys find you trying to source your own material from Europe or the States, you end up with a warning letter, and your porn ends up in an incinerator just outside London. Do it once too often - or try importing too many titles in a single order - and you'll have the custom boys knocking at your door at 6 in the morning with a premises search warrant in hand.
The only legal means by which you can get hardcore onto your TV in the UK is by purchasing an 'R18' certificated film (UK film ratings have 18 as their highest rating, which forbids people below that age from viewing). R18 films can *only* be purchased in person from a licensed sex shop (they're licensed by local government). They cannot even be purchased by mail order.
