STDs are real. There's no questioning that. It's also true that STDs are just a small subset of the total set of diseases out there that humans can contract. You probably don't think twice about touching the handle of a grocery cart. Yet, that handle is one of the most unsanitary things we come in contact with.
STDs have a buggaboo about them that is almost as bad as mentioning the word "nuclear" or "radiation" in regards to anything. Every second of every day we're constantly exposed to radiation. But, say the word "radiation" and people get terrified. Similar with STDs. We're constantly exposed to all sorts of diseases on a regular basis. The reality is you only know a minuscule portion of the contact you have with disease.
Yes, playing with multiple partners increases your chances of contracting STDs. Yes, some STDs have very serious implications. My wife and I carefully weighed this when deciding to become swingers. We did research, finding that the prevalence of STDs among swingers was less than the general population. We take steps to mitigate risks, and play accordingly.
