I think in polyamory, there is a level of commitment, though there may be no demand of exclusivity or formalization.
Funny, I was thinking earlier that polygamy is probably a form of polyamory, and polyamory may be a form of swinging, but I couldn't come to the conclusion that polygamy is swinging.
