I think the best way for you to tell him is to bring him to the computer and show him what you just wrote. You wrote it very well and you did an excellent job of expressing yourself. I don't know what you could say in person that would do any better job than what you just posted.
Not only that, I think the fact that you cared enough to sit down and share your deep inner thoughts with complete strangers in asking them for advice would also mean a lot to him. We have been successfully swinging for a couple years and if my wife took the time and energy to do what you just did I'd probably pass out
