I wouldn't say that Avid took it the wrong way; she just didn't view it the same way you do. Doesn't make her wrong any more than a period makes her broken.
I am not fond of "I'm broken" either. I'm not broken; I'm just doing the same thing most women have been doing every 22-60 days since Eve ate the apple so why say something that isn't true. I just say it's that time of month or period.
To each their own as to terminology. However, it doesn't mean that 100% will like a particular word or turn of phrase.
