I have always thought that Polyamory would have a more vanilla appeal compared with swinging. I mean most folks have and understand very close friendships with the opposite sex, that are not sexual in nature. I would also imagine most everyone would find it easier to go that next step and expose that part of themselves to a close friend verses a relative total stranger. If poly ever got the type of hype swinging gets, we might find more people open to alternative relationships altogether.
