We started off exactly the same way. While we did attend a couple of clubs in our area we found that we had better luck meeting couples through SLS or other online swinger dating sites. Both have their advantages. Clubs are a great place to have that sexy vibe in a "neutral" space. We're not the best minglers, and being new made it that much harder. Through our ad we were able to be completely open upfront about our situation, what we were looking for, and what our boundaries were. That way we knew that those who responded were looking for the same or respected our boundaries if they were more adventurous. Of course, we always made sure to repeat everything in person to ensure that we were on the same page. We ended up having great experiences of same room sex with different couples including one "sixsome" of sorts. That helped us realize that this was something we wanted to be more involved in. We have since moved on to soft swap but still take things at a slow pace due to jobs, kids, life, etc. We may never move to full swap. We know couples who NEVER move to full swap but have many super hot soft swap experiences. I'm sure the same can be said of just sticking to same room and voyeurism experiences. Overall, move at your speed. Set your boundaries and make sure your new friends respect them. Have fun!
