Re: Theme Nights - Yay or Nay? I've never been gung ho on theme nights, which at our club is nearly an every weekend event. As others have said, many people don't dress for them (we rarely do) so I don't think they care too much for them either. And turning people away from a club because they aren't dressed for the theme would be a disaster for clubs! It would probably reduce income by at least 50%.
What I get out of theme nights is looking at what other people choose to wear. It can be hilarious; some people do themselves up well, others don't look too good because of their costume.
I think clubs continue with themes because it's the best way to make it seem like the club is always providing something different and is everchanging. Think about it. How would it look if they posted an announcement each week that said the same thing, "Come on out to our club this weekend!" They have to entince people some way and themes do seem to tickle people and draw them in, even if most people don't dress for them.
