I think swinging can lead to poly, but not necessarily. It isn't bad if it doesn't happen, nor if it does.
I do think it's good that people aren't getting all worked up over alternative lifestyles, at least it appears that way. So far the news articles I've been seeing about swinging have been amazingly positive.
