Personally, I do think people should be able to post their thoughts on any topic regardless of what they are. Forums aren't about a whole bunch of people saying "me too" or "I agree" but adult discussions where everyone can express their views. That said, I do get annoyed at times when the "nay sayers" virtually take over a thread that thier POV really had nothing to do with inthe beginning.
It's one thing when someone is asking opinions on a subject and they get POVs from all side... it's another thing when someone is asking a question to a specific subset of people and an entirely different group feels the need to voice their opinion on why the question should be invalid to start with. It's not an invalid question to those it applies to.
Personally, if I read a thread (or even a thread title) and it obviously is of no interest to me, I might go ahead and read the thread and see if there is SOMETHING there that I might be able to relate to (and sometimes even post if there is) but typically if it is no interest to me once I've read the original post I'll move on.
To each their own. This site is not about censorship (it never has been). We don't shut down threads because they disagree with swinging as a whole, nor do I feel that someone should be censored from expressing their POV on any topic... so long as they do so in a way that is respectful of the original post.
The reason I posted this thread to begin with was because I did run across a mod that would allow users to "ignore a thread" if they decided it wasn't of interest to them, therefore it wouldn't pop up in "new posts" for them, etc. and I wanted to know members here would actually find such a mod useful, or would it be a waste of my time to install. I decided on the latter... but I still like hearing everyone's opinions
