That is what I have deduced too. The problem with finding information about asymptomatic shedding is that so many people who have an agenda have twisted what little research has been done on the subject to their own advantage.
I only recal two studies that even looked at it. One of them went by interviews of people who contracted herpes. They asked the study participants if they saw any signs of herpes in their partners. The problem with that is, most people just aren't that observant or wouldn't know what to look for if they were. The second study that I read had the participants swab themselves daily and turn in the results. These were all people with outbreaks more frequent than average. Even at that, they found that they were shedding the virus when they showed no visible symptoms less than 10 days a year, with the average being 3-5 days a year (can't remember the exact average of all participants off the top of my head).
