Books are hard. I used to be a voracious reader until a couple of years ago. I could read 5+ books a week. Then I obtained a laptop and became addicted to reading all sorts of internet stuff instead of books. I'm slowly moving away from the laptop and I've actually gone to the library a few times in the last three months.
Anyway, I'll read just about anything except for most sci fi or fantasy. If someone suggests something with a compelling reason as to why I should read it, I'll consider it.
I just finished Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert and have started Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Mafisi, which I hope to finish by this weekend. I did what I thought was unthinkable and read all of the Harry Potter series, and actually thought those were pretty good.
I'll often watch American Beauty, Before Sunset, Bread & Tulips, The Godfather or Amelie if it's on a non-commercial channel, even though I've seen these a gazillion times. I'll plunk those in the computer or DVD player as well. I like foreign flicks quite a bit, maybe because it occupies my brain a bit more having to read the subtitles in addition to listening to tone and facial expressions. If I want a laugh, I'll watch Clerks - I like a lot of Kevin Smith's stuff. My favorite list changes depending on my mood.
Of course, what I like is the exact opposite of what The Spousal Unit likes, so I end up back at the computer or I'll read a book because there is only so much John Wayne, Clint Eastwood or other forms of war movies I can watch before I want to poke my eyes out. And I'm sure that's a vice versa for him!
