We began as strictly same room only and then strayed a couple of times to separate rooms which did not work out well for us. Our fulfillment comes from same room only. There we have the security of each other and the enjoyment that comes from watching the person you love give the same pleasures to another person that you have the every day benefit from. I love watching my husband thrill another woman in the same way that he does me, as much as he does watching another man do the same that he does for his partner. The thrill and excitement is as much a pleasure as it is a learning experience.
I don't think you are rare at all. I think the majority of couples feel the same way. As funpair_TX said, don't gauge clubs as being the norm for swinger activities. We haven't found it to be the norm with any of the couples we have met outside of clubs.
