I think what it boils down to is that there are different kinds of people in the world. Those who feel comfortable being emotionally intimate with casual acquaintances and those who do not. Just like there are those who fell comfortable being physically intimate with casual acquaintances and those who do not. It is unlikely that one kind of personality will ever truly understand the other.
