Default Re: Swinger Dance Music?

I’m not a great dancer, but I will get on the dance floor once there are enough people there, I’ve had two or three drinks, and the DJ is playing a variety of music. One thing I hate, HATE, HATE, about some clubs – swing or vanilla – is that they stick to one genre of music for an hour at a time or a whole night. I appreciate it when the DJ swings from Gwen Stefani to ska to Motown to hip-hop to country to whatever. Give this white boy a dance beat and some variety. Please. A few songs of a genre in a row are fine, but give me an hour of booty-shaking hip-hop and I lose interest. What a dullard I am. But I've found that I'm not the only dullard out there.

So, I’m very happy to see that the previous lists in this thread have a variety of styles. At the clubs I’ve been to I’ve seen folks in the barely legal age groups up to 70 year olds. To me, that means we should encourage music – danceable music – from a variety of eras. And I’m including the early Sinatra tunes here, for you true romantics.

Anyway, I looked through my New Wave CDs and noted that the following songs are danceable, often have sexual themes or lyrics, or themes/lyrics that can be construed as sexual, so I thought they’d be applicable here:

BLONDIE – Call Me
BLONDIE – One Way or Another
BLONDIE – Dreaming
BLONDIE – Heart of Glass
ROMANTICS – What I Like About You
MODERN ENGLISH – I Melt With You
SOFT CELL – Tainted Love
BERLIN – Take My Breath Away
BERLIN – Sex (I’m A…)
CARS – Just What I Needed
ABC – Look of Love
FINE YOUNG CANNIBALS – She Drives Me Crazy
THOMPSON TWINS – In the Name of Love
HAIRCUT 100 – Love Plus One
RAMONES – I Wanna Be Sedated (Not a sexual theme, just danceable…and one of my favorite songs)
ROMEO VOID – Never Say Never (“I might like you better if we slept together…”)
THE GO-GO’S – Our Lips Are Sealed
PSYCHEDELIC FURS – Love My Way

Anyone want to add to this New Wave festival? Or do a thorough check of the Motown catalog (another hotbed of familiar/danceable music)?
