I think you mentioned at least twice that they seemed like they "didn't want to be there". It really sounds like they are having some personal issues....that maybe one wants to be there while the other one doesn't?

And then once they show up there is a tension between them, because one of them didn't want to be there, and they feel put out, or it's like pulling teeth to get them to talk, etc.
