The key is to get an outstanding surgeon with lots of experience - do all the homework, first. The scars will partly depend on the patient's health and healing ability, but also a great deal on the surgeon's skill and attention to detail. I'm very fortunate to have very fine lines and very even (my surgeon is very meticulous). At only 5 months post-op, the breast scars are hard to see and part of the bodylift scar is so faded it's hard to see, too! It will only get better and better. That scar is so low and even, it hides beneath a g-string, and certainly inside of bikini bottoms. If you look at the pic on our profile, you'll see a black g-string under the black lace. That's where my scar is located.

I had gotten very fit over a long period of time (lost weight in 2003-2004), following a very healthy diet (still do) and lots of exercise. With sagging stretched skin, the only way that's ever going away is to have it removed. I didn't have lipo or anything, but after the surgery I immediately looked like I'd lost 20 lbs. Extra skin takes up a lot of space in your clothes.

The pain: that's what drugs are for. LOL There's pain, but it's bearable. Of course, everybody's different in how they feel about pain. In my case, I was only on the hard stuff for 3 days post-op, then weaned myself onto just Extra-Strength Tylenol after that, with Ambien at night to sleep. The recovery: I was home from work for 2.5 weeks post-op, then back to a desk job. For some time, you're more tired than normal...this is a real healing process. Taking really good care of yourself and getting plenty of nutrition and rest is important. Pretty soon, I was allowed to walk for exercise. I was released by my surgeon to go back to working out, including weights, at 4 months post-op. With major muscle repair to abs, you need to give that plenty of time to heal before working out hard.

It's all been extremely worth it to me. Since I had a baby 18 years ago, my body never looked the same as before, not even close, regardless of exercise or anything I could do. After I was a mom, I gained weight and then lost it, meaning more stretched skin. After the swelling went down, my reaction was feeling as if I got my 25-year-old body back - and that was a great feeling! The results were better than I dreamed they'd be.
