I've reached the conclusion that it's not as important to women but more of an ego thing for men. I'm slightly more than 5" fully erect and my wife's boyfriend is a full 9 inches and quite thick. While she enjoys sex with him she complains about being sore after a weekend with him. She often says that she wishes he wasn't quite so big.
