I don't think it makes them (well, us, because I am one) more valuable than anything else. Perhaps for those that consider not playing with condoms, this makes a difference because of the lack of ability to procreate.

It would be nice if it was considered more valuable so I can justify having frozen peas as my best friend for 3 days, but I don't think that's the case. I truly think it just comes down to those that have the "upon request" preference for swinging.
