Strange reactions from vanilla friends and coworkers?

Recommended Posts

I thought I'd throw this out for some discussion and story sharing.

I was wondering what some of the interesting things you have heard vanilla friends and coworkers etc say about swinging or of anything that is not completely traditional and monogamous.

Recently I learned a lesson about sharing too much around vanillas and I was actually a bit suprised by the reaction.

A little background, we are not "out" in the slightest as far as our lifestyle activities and none of our friends, family, coworkers etc know anything about our activities.

One of the things that has always been a bit of a downer is having a fun and exciting weekend only to return to work on monday and pretend that you spent the weekend picking up dog poop in the yard and grilling steaks on the Bar B.

Well a little while back some of our LS friends invited us to a vanilla house party that they were hosting. It was all vanilla friends and family of theirs and there was only a couple other LS people at the party and of course no play was offered or expected.

However, even though this was a vanilla party, it was a little on the racey side and as a headline to the entertainment they revealed a suprise hors d'oeuvre buffet in the middle of the party. The "buffet" was in fact a naked woman, laying on a table, wearing a mask and covered head to toe in chocolate syrup, whipped cream, sliced stawberries/pinapples/kiwi etc as well as chocolates, mints and other candies.

People were delighted in picking the goodies off of her and a few of the more adventurous ladies even began licking some of the chocolate and whipped cream off of her.

I asked her if I could take some pictures to which she agreed and I snapped a few pics of her with my camera phone (I didn't have any pics of anyone else or of any of the licking)

When I got to work the following monday I didn't think anything of it since it was a vanilla party with 95% vanilla attendees and no playing so when coworkers asked what I did that weekend I mentioned the party and showed some of the pics.

Well you could have heard a pin drop and you'd think I had just farted on the Pope. People were aghast at what had taken place and were grossed out that people were eating things off of another person's body. Some even stated that they should be reported to the health department for the improper serving of food items and some also stated that Child Protective Services should be notified if there were any minor children living in the home (there weren't any minors in the house at the time of course)

Needless to say, our weekend activities will NEVER be brought up in any manner again and I have to admit I was as shocked at their reaction as they were that I would be in the same house with a naked woman.

It was a real wake up call as to how negatively people can react to anything "different" that might occur.

So that was my little misadventure, how about you? Do you have any stories or insights to share on how people not in the lifestyle react to things swinging related?

Sorry, no stories to tell along the lines of what you are looking for here. But I do have to agree with you...when someone asks how your weekend/vacation was. I would love to tell them that we went to a house party and played with all our naked friends, but that is really not an option.

Susan here-- I was having lunch with a now former vanilla friend who was elaborating on an affair she was having.

Me: I understand your need for exploration, yet have you considered instead of lying, sneaking around and infidelity, to take him on this journey of yours, in some way ?

Her: What, you mean like Swingers or something ? That's crazy, I mean really, why would anyone ever do that ?

Me: Well, for beginners, it's honest.

...she absolutely could not process it. Some people are so plugged into the System, they will fight for it no matter how much lying, deception and destruction occurs.

While not exactly swinging related, we used to have a neighbor who was a retired baptist minister. We are nudists and regularly spent time at a local resort. When he would ask what we did that weekend we would tell him all the fun we had, just leaving out the nudity part. That worked out well until he decided it sounded like a really fun place to go to himself. That brought up a very uncomfortable situation. We decided honesty was best and explained the situation to him. While we were not surprised at his decision not to go, he actually did not react in the way we expected. No hellfire and damnation speeches, but an actual curiosity about the whole thing. I do believe having to admit to swinging would have been a different ballgame so any activity of that type, we figured out early on not to make it sound like we had such a good time at any club we went to.

Upon one or two occasions of having my professional work associates ask about my weekend activities, I have told them that I was in a swimming pool with a dozen or so naked women. They don't believe me.

I don't get asked a lot of how my weekend goes, but Dave does.

He doesn't say much.

I gotta tell you, even if it were a vanilla setting, I don't see myself sharing with my co-workers the fact that the party I attended included a naked lady buffet.

It may be swinger-vanilla, but it ain't "vanilla" to the majority of the public.

The last office I worked in, some friends knew we used to go hang out at the lake in Austin...which is code for "We went to Hippie Hollow"...probably would have not been decoded had my supervisor not lived in Austin and knew exactly why we would drive nearly an hour and a half to go to a lake when there are quite a few places that are within a 30 minute drive. But it was a very small office and everyone was kind of in each other's gossip.

However...I don't know how you portrayed the incident to your coworkers...but I definitely wouldn't have been sharing pictures.

Why do you feel the need to share specific details of what you did over the weekend? When we usually get that type of question, what we generally say is something generic like "so and so just had some people over to hang out and have drinks...so we went to their house for a while"...no one needs to know that at any given point during the night that at least 4 or 5 people were walking around naked and there was a pile of people on the liberators out in the playroom.

Sure, its awesome to feel like you have this huge secret and you may want to burst with it...but obviously sharing even something slightly risque didn't work out like you thought it might. :( Most vanilla peeps will get a little rowdy if they are at a party and having drinks...but probably wouldn't admit it to their coworkers on Monday.

Stories of an ice luge for shooters at a party is wild enough for my co-workers. There are a select few I might share a store like the OP had, but some co-workers are super conservative.

I guess my wife and I were always a little on the wild side. if we had heard that story even before swinging we would have been very interested in attending that type of party!

I was telling a vanilla friend about someone I knew who had visited one of Amsterdam's famous live sex shows and how that went (mildly entertaining, not really erotic, and somewhat disappointing btw). His response was "so you have to pay to get in, and then there's people up on stage actually having sex? So swingers work there then?"

I was like "no, it's just like a strip club here, they are paid performers, but they have sex"

He came back with "yeah, like I said, swingers"

I just said "uhhm, I don't think swinging works quite like that" and just left it alone from there

It happens, just last week matter of fact. We went away for the weekend to a social, had a great time, but during the Monday morning debriefing when everyone asks how was your weekend and did you do anything fun we just leave it as "fine, how about you?"

it was a little on the racey side .........The "buffet" was in fact a naked woman, laying on a table,

One helluva party evidently, think you could safely say that one went beyond plain lo-cal vanilla. No way I would be telling that story, much less showing pics.

Interesting.

There was a young kid at my office, 10 or 12 years younger than me, and he and I would sometimes trade stories out in the smoking area, though I censored myself quite a bit. Until one day he told a particularly graphic (I think, don't really remember what he said that inspired me) story that caused me to show him a picture on my personal PC (that just happened to be in my car, which is not a normal thing) of myself naked, surrounded by about 7 naked women including my lovely bride.

After he picked his jaw up off the ground he said, and I quote, "Dude, you are the man, and I got nothing to top that. Or even come close!"

He did keep my secret though.

I don't think a story of a naked food presentation, which actually has a name (Nyataimori) would shock very many here in NY, though I suppose I could be wrong.

We were at a Breezes resort in Jamaica for a little R&R. We were staying on the clothed side, but it had a nude side which we got passes for everyday. Our luggage got lost in transit and took over 24 hours to reach us. It just so happened a couple overheard us talking about our problem and offered us clothes. We thanked them and said, no problem, we're headed over to the nude side. She was clearly mortified and stared at us every time we came back to the clothed side to eat. Best part was on our last morning, we had breakfast with a couple where the man was a big guy and he had a shirt that said "King of the Naked People" -- you couldn't miss him. The woman nearly fell out of her chair.

On the nude side, when couples found out we had vacationed at Desire, you could tell they were a bit surprised and kind of kept their distance from us like we were going to jump them or something. For us, this was a romantic week, and didn't put out any lifestyle vibes at all.

So everyone has their "limits" -- but it was so interesting seeing the spectrum at this particular resort.

A vanilla party with a naked woman covered in chocolate! Now that is someting we would love to see at a "vanilla" party. Perhaps, we should suggest that as an idea for the next party that our vanilla friend couples throw. We can just hear them say " are you guys perverts or something"?

That's why our preference is for honest to goodness private sex parties where one can indulge and fuck someone else's wife or mate and enjoy it. Honestly!

When I was a teenager, I had an acquaintance who, when asked by his parents where he was going out to, would say "I'm going out to sell some drugs. Back later". They never challenged him, and never imagined he was serious.

In a bit of a different way to the poster above that said about people's inability to process things, some things are beyond the ken of people to understand and they refuse to believe it's true.

editor's note: I was not involved in said activity; I just heard of it

we have nothing a good as these but since we have been on SLS my wife has been meeting people in vanilla settings such as work and the gym who come up to her and say you look very familiar even though they have never met before. Granted we don't have face pics in our public gallery but it's awfully coincidental.

We are "out" to a few of our close family members and they are all very open and understanding, we have even turned a few of our "vanilla" friends onto the LS. But our next-door neighbors, despite their young age (25) are very very uptight and would never even consider such a thing.

One day some new neighbors moved in behind us and my neighbor told me, with a disgusted look on her face, that she thought that the new comers were swingers. I laughed inside but gave her a surprised look.

Then a few weeks ago our next-door neighbor came over to drop off some stuff and our AFF account was open on our computer screen. I rushed over to close the laptop but it was too late, she had already seen what was on it. We have seen them since and they haven't mentioned anything, and I don't think they ever will. LOL

This exposes the logic process behind vanilla's morality. For one, many of these vanillas have licked things off others bodies. Secondly, why do they assume that one's body is unclean? I really don't find women eating off food off any body type to be sexy, but I am not going to go as far to call child protective services. Correct me if I am wrong, but the mouth is part of the body that has the most germs. The pointless morality of vanillas is frightening. BTW I am vanilla.

I am not surprised. If I were a swinging couple, I would remain cautious of deciding to play with couples who decide to swing in their early 20s. Some could handle it but a lot of them are too immature. Perhaps I am overgeneralizing, but that is my perception.
